Ok,, I was under the impression resetbase was broken and did not think it was a wanted Ms change. I thought they were going to reduce size requirements everywhere. I don't really see an improvement from the user side of things with checkpoint updates. I still had to download about 900MB for the 2 LCU and the install did not seem any quicker.
Windows 11 doesn't ordinarily run in x86 mode. But if you have an ARM processor, I think it will emulate x86 mode. Are there Copilot PCs that run in x86 mode? Probably not. Correct me if I'm wrong. So do you have an x86 processor with a neural processing unit (NPU)? I doubt that also. There is a rumor of a crack that will run Recall (AI) on a 64-bit PC with no NPU. But why would you want to run Recall at all? For me, that's like inviting my machine to spy on me.
When doing an upgrade install from Windows 11 Pro 23H2 to 24H2 using an ISO created from UUP Dump, the setup gives an error regarding updates. Do I have no choice but to do a clean install? I was told I'd be able to do an upgrade install.
I would say Windows 11 has totally compromised privacy. There is a huge difference between "may compromise" and "totally compromised". Don't forget that the source code of Microsoft Windows OS is proprietary. It is not open source. According to developers of Tor, the only version of Windows that doesn't compromise privacy is Windows 7.
i agree, uup dump (uup-converter-wimlib) takes hours to complete, and uses unofficial workarounds trying to avoid errors... would be best for users to stick with official iso's... I was using an edited ISO until recently but I had some issues so I did a clean install with one (23H2) created from UUP Dump but this time not edited and now I'm having this issue when updating to 24H2.
only If you use a very very very old hardware and/or a small amount of ram memory to make the converting job
Your point sounds like another argument to just download and install official iso's... and the bonus no errors, Or is your point buy top of the range pc, then make and install makeshift iso from "uup dump" over an official iso ???
I would disagree, slightly. Maybe not “hours”, but very likely 1 hour? I’ve never timed it, but uupdump does take quite a while to build a new release iso. And I’m not on an old weak machine (i9-12900k, 32 gigs). I used to build new release ISOs on a regular basis using uupdump, but I haven’t done that in quite a while. It’s much easier just to use the official Microsoft released ISOs. YMMV ON EDIT: I should add, that time estimate is based on compressing to ESD, which does add quite a bit of time.
