Thanks for your reply @Enthousiast I don't want to install optional updates on WU, especially if they are offered as previews. How do I turn optional updates on WU off, as in forever OFF?
According to MS, you just don't click the button. By actively searching for updates, MS categorizes you as a "Seeker" and a Seeker gets offered anything. Alternative, manual install once a month, or a WSUS Server filtering non-security stuff out and offering the rest.
Again, read the info i provided carefully, Preview is NOT IP Release Preview, MSFT never should have started calling them Preview. If you don't want the optional/preview WU updates then just leave WU alone.
What button were you referring to? What did you mean by "WSUS server filtering non-security stuff out and offering the rest"? Could you elaborate please? What's LCU?
The Check For Updates button in the Windows Update section of the Settings app. WSUS = Windows Server Update Services. It's a role for Windows Server for centralized management and deployment of Windows Updates. Most commonly used in business and enterprise environments, but it can also be used for obtaining updates from Microsoft that are not available via the Windows Update Catalog. LCU = Latest Cumulative Update.
Good day friends, Recently (this week) I couldnt update the latest WU after 22631.4890 .. I found that my Recovery Partition (not System Reserved) is missing, previously all updates working fine except this week. Should I do the In-place upgrade using original ISO to get the Recovery Partition back again? .. I couldnt find the latest 23H2 ISO because Microsoft removed it from their official website, and is there anywhere else I can find it other then UUP? .. UUP for me seems very slow, I prefer the full original ISO if possible.
The "Check for updates" button is not what it used to be. By clicking it, you are promoted to the "Seeker" role by MS, and listed all updates, including the non-security feature updates (foolishly labeled "Preview", but having nothing to do with Insider Preview). To get only security updates, leave the button alone and let the magic happen by itself.
Have you looked at the SVF files provided by @Enthousiast which you can find here https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-11-svf-repository.83748/ This is the post in that thread for the February 23H2 ISO's https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/windows-11-svf-repository.83748/page-23#post-1871035
