    Well, I can say, hella folks are gonna angry if Windows becomes a subscription service cuz they nagged the hell out of consumers to switch from Windows 7/8.

    That would be the one thing that would make Linux Desktops more than a Niche. Consumers won't buy computers with a monthly subscription fee.

    They won't, people will just get a chromebook or a mac then.

    Microsoft rather have everyone running Windows and then sell them additional services like Cloud Storage and Office.
