The current explorer still has a lot of limitations as evident from an hr of testing. Basic things like 7-zip don't have support for context menus yet. The Right click context menu where you click "Show more options" to reveal the older context menu feels tacky as f***. The new thick bar which replaced the ribbon.... Does it want to be translucent ? or project the faint color of the wallpaper while remaining opaque ? It is not consistent with new settings app. At least they could have back / forward arrows at same places for better muscle memory. The context menus everywhere are so obnoxiously large that they look comical. I hope Microsoft takes the "Right Feedback" from community and implements it before actual release. Why do they need to show me recommended apps in new start menu? Why can't I reclaim that space to pin more apps there instead? If I disable recommended apps, that area remains blank or wasted. This means poor UI design. Why STILL I cannot disable the rubbish "Top Apps" in Search box? Isn't it the same as Recommended Apps in the new start menu? I have sent countless feedback about that useless feature when it launched 2 yrs back yet zero f***s were given. Apple are far ahead in terms of UI design and overall friendliness when it comes to OS design. I am not even an Apple fan. Far from it.
Hmm, 7-Zip and WinRAR context menus working fine for me. I agree about the start menu -- this is MS' favorite place to mess things up
Hint; It's an early, extremely unfinished, bleeding edge preview of something not due for many months yet... On another note; Anyone had any luck with Factory OS? It failed to even build the default image for me.. Believe this is the new Windows Embedded equivalent (Windows Core). EDIT: Seems to be building the VM version right now... Let's see how this goes. Miss how configurable Windows 7 Embedded was!
>Factory OS From what it says it seems to me to be a MUCH better option than ' win 11 ' . Hopefully someone can make it work for us
Curiously and a bit foolishly, they don't require secure boot for Factory OS. #Consistent (Another mistake - the guide for it states you can use a 32Gb flash drive. Nope. It'll fail and tell you its too small...)
All programs including antivirus and drivers installed properly, except for the Cannon PIXMA MP495 driver. I am very upset about this. I would like to use the system as my main system.
I built a Factory OS iso and ran it on real hardware. It works, but cannot install drivers and running win32 apps in a container is not ideal. Need to use remote desktop.
