It got public links: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1889601 I am informed that we'll get a new one very soon, let's wait and see what changed in that new one.
That"s what AI says: Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 refers to the Long-Term Servicing Channel version of Windows 11, based on the 24H2 codebase, designed for special-purpose devices and environments prioritizing stability over new features. While it uses the 24H2 foundation, it will receive the features of Windows 11, version 25H2 via an enablement package (eKB) in the future, maintaining a static feature set for a prolonged support period. Key Characteristics: Static Feature Set: LTSC editions provide a stable, unchanging feature set for a specific period, ideal for devices with long service lives where operational consistency is more important than the latest innovations. Version 24H2 Base: Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC 2024 is built upon the Windows 11, version 24H2 operating system, which is the 2024 annual feature update. Future-Proofed with 25H2 Features: The LTSC 2024 version will eventually gain the features planned for the 25H2 update, delivered through an enablement package. This allows for a consistent codebase and more efficient delivery of features. Long-Term Support: This edition receives quality updates for an extended period, providing a stable platform for specialized hardware and environments. Reduced Disruption: By not receiving continuous feature updates, LTSC minimizes disruptive changes to the user interface or system behavior. Relationship to 24H2 and 25H2 24H2 Foundation: When the LTSC 2024 version is released, it will be based on the 24H2 codebase. 25H2 Enablement: Later, the features of 25H2 will be delivered to the LTSC 2024 version through an enablement package, which activates existing feature code. Shared Servicing Branch: Because 24H2 and 25H2 share the same servicing branch, the LTSC version benefits from the same code and servicing pipeline. Should I trust AI?
About the use of the 25H2 EP on 2024 LTSC: I will try to cumulate all my info about the subject in this post, for now: Content of the first 25H2 EP update: - https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1874226 First 2024 LTSC test: - https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1874238 - Info: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1888557 - Updates integration: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1887693 - Info: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1889618 - LTSC with 25H2 getting retail channel updates offered: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1889582 - EnterpriseS is mentioned in the current 25H2 EP applicability list - It gets the 25H2 edition shown - Retail channel updates are offered on WU It is not expected that 2024 LTSC will eventually get the 25H2 EP offered on WU as it being a (fake) feature upgrade, However the 25H2 editions won't get any new features (at launch) and even some 24H2 existing features get killed off, all can happen. Maybe the 25H2 "upgrade" is just a "repair" action to get rid of some old(er) features and to keep their "every year a new release" cadency. - There will be another Release Preview 25H2 EP, in that we can check for it's applicability list September 12. 2025: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1890081 same 25H2 EP, nothing changed! - Then there will be a public aka retail channel version to check - Finally we can wait for WU ot offer it in the retail channel on 2024 LTSC OR MSFT should get its act together and release some real informing blog about this nonsense....ehhhh.... mess General Info about the 25H2 editions: Removed apps are: Code: - Powershell 2.0 - WMIC ps, i have added a link to this post at the OP!!!
Just like you said that in #3071, even if WU can get retail channel update, if Microsoft ultimately does not offer eKB for 24H2LTSC, it may be affect to can not receive the 24H2 LTSC updates on WU after 25H2 support ends.
