Running a proof of concept in a VM with a prob: I have installed the latest May '26 build of 11 GA Pro in the VM. I have also used NTlite to slipstream the latest WUs into an ISO of 11 IoT/LTSC. After I run the MAS command line to allow the upgrade and then start the installer for the 11 IoT/LTSC ISO, the installer allows to keep nothing. The MAS upgraded command line seems to not be doing anything? ... I also have tried an ISO of 11 IoT/LTSC updated to Jan 2026 (made by someone else) that had worked fine to do this type of upgraded prior, but now on this VM allows to keep nothing also. What could be wrong? Has Microsoft blocked the MAS upgrade command line for upgrading from Pro to IoT/LTSC ?
To get this clear for other readers: - You installed pro in a VM - You updated a (IoT) Enterprise 2024 LTSC ISO, - You ran the MAS commandline to allow what exact upgrade? You can'tt use MAS to online upgrade to Pro. To be able to keep all files and apps when upgrading from Pro to LTSC you either need to change the editionID: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/upgradematrix-xml-fix-tool-very-beta.88518/#post-1846462 (or did you mean to say you used this) or fix the upgradematrix.xml: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/upgradematrix-xml-fix-tool-very-beta.88518/
The VM has the May build of 11 Pro from UUP Dump My LTSC/IoT ISO was WU updated with NTlite to May '26 I ran this MAS command line: reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v EditionID /d IoTEnterpriseS /f But the upgrade installer allows to keep nothing.
@Enthousiast thanks for being on top of everything, I was totally surprised, having done several of these upgrades, and only needing the MAS command line prior.
@Enthousiast I am getting this error on my source ISO files "Warnings There are data after the end of archive" , does this mean my ISO is corrupt, even though the script will run.
Can you give us some more info about that, like: - where does that message appear* - when using what sofftware* As shown, the editionid change is just a registry change to fool the upgrade that you already are running that specific SKU/edition, so setup will offer all options during upgrade, after the editionid change just start setup from the mounted/extracted ISO. * if you meant that that message appears when running the upgradematrix script (which i did show is not needed for this upgrade): It should not appear: Code: ============================================== Running ISO Upgrade Enabler v2.1_b6... Hello, I'm trying to upgrade windows 10 loT enterprise to en-us_windows_11_enterprise_ltsc_2024_x64_dvd_965cfb00.iso but it's unable to save apps and files on upgrade. Am I trying to use the wrong version? I'm using WintoUsb because the laptop doesn't meet the requirements for 11
Upgrading doesn't need any USB, just mount/extract the ISO to a folder and run setup.exe from there. What exact build and language are you currently running? NVM, use tthis: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/upgradematrix-xml-fix-tool-very-beta.88518/#post-1846462 Code: reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v EditionID /d IoTEnterpriseS /f and run setup from the mounted ISO.
current is 22h2 19045.6456 windows 10 loT enterprise english.. I've stopped at the point where you select what you want to keep. Programs and files check box is grayed out and it tells me I can't save any of that (as if it's a clean install?) I just want to update. **edit - I have tried a few versions but none seem to be able to save my apps and files and others stating they don't know if I have enough room.
Did you try what i showed? Or the upgradematrix fix itself, from the link? Wait, you got a weird error at running the editionid command? How did you run the command?
There is just one reg add option for IoT Enterprise LTSC and i showed it to you in this reply: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/posts/1913698 If that doesn't do the job then use the upgradematrix fix tool: https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/upgradematrix-xml-fix-tool-very-beta.88518/ to fix the iso.
