Is there anyway to stop webview2 from reinstalling? (apart from disabling windows update). I have uninstalled edge and webview2 via control panel, deleted the tasks and services, cleaned some registry keys for any "pending" installations, added some registry keys suggested by AI to stop updates and installations, but it comes back after about 2 weeks or every windows patch. I don't use any webview programs and windows behaved fine while it was free webview2, but i just can't stop it coming back.
Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate] "InstallMicrosoftEdgeWebView2"=dword:00000000 "DoNotUpdateToEdgeWebView2"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge] "WebView2RuntimeInstallEnabled"=dword:00000000 Part of pack posted here Tested on Windows 10 21H2 / 22H2, can't vouch for Windows 11
Oh I see, I miss the LTSC part lol... so the latest IOT Enterprise LTSC is still 24H2 right? Thanks pm67310
This is the LTSC specific thread, so only (IoT) Enterprise 2024 LTSC is discussed in here and although it can get the 26H2 EKB installed manually, it doesn't bring anything new other then maybe future problems. IoT Enterprise non LTSC is GAC and gets the 26H2 EKB by WU or install it manually.
Yes I know that Ent, that's why I ask it here . I got excited to see a lot of ISO 26H2 come out and see there's IOT Enterprise too, which I thought it is a LTSC one. I only use IOT Enterprise LTSC since the first time using Windows 11, don't wanna touch non LTSC version.
LTSC ISOs do not get refreshes, unless they screwed up. But even then, the branch does not change. (IoT) Enterprise LTSC 2024 will always be 24H2. There will be a completely new one, usually every three years.
As with the other methods I have tried, webview2 has come back after about a 2 week period. There doesn't seem to be any specific task that triggers, maybe it's part of an internal call from windows update. Looks like Microsoft really want you to have webview2 in 24h2+
Try Spoiler Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate] "Install{F3017226-FE2A-4295-8BDF-00C3A9A7E4C5}"=dword:00000000 "Update{F3017226-FE2A-4295-8BDF-00C3A9A7E4C5}"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EdgeUpdateDev\CdpNames] "msedgewebview-stable-win-x64"="msedge-internal-win-x64" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x86"="msedge-internal-win-x86" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x64-zdp"="msedge-internal-win-x64" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x86-zdp"="msedge-internal-win-x86" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\EdgeUpdateDev\CdpNames] "msedgewebview-stable-win-x64"="msedge-internal-win-x64" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x86"="msedge-internal-win-x86" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x64-zdp"="msedge-internal-win-x64" "msedgewebview-stable-win-x86-zdp"="msedge-internal-win-x86"
This looks like reverse engineered from you. I couldn't find any resources online, MSFT or otherwise. Is there any specific build requirements like only works on such and such builds, or is entirely generic ? Thank you.
CdpNames, yes although last time i checked them 1 year ago Install{guid} & Update{guid} are official policies
Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 24H2 doesn't include Microsoft Store. I installed Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 26H2 (inside a VM using en-us_windows_11_iot_enterprise_version_26h2_x64_dvd_7788c4bc.iso) and it includes Microsoft Store. As this is also an IoT build, why is Microsoft Store included?
