ill just stick with the app im using , not sure why they decided i cant have brightness control on desktop when i had in win10
having to re install forza 5, i suspect it was because i removed languages that i didn't need xbox card appeared in accounts, another nice treat
Only server would be an extra but that is also canary channel. WIn 10/11/12 all are developed/tested/released in the canaray/dev/rp/beta and retail channel.
1485 is Retail channel, 1537 is Beta channel you can't just install LCU with higher version number if you are switching channels and your system or ISO was cleaned up at the same time build 22624.1537 ISO on UUP dump and perform in-place upgrade or manually add missing manifests after cleanup on your Retail build
He doesn't mention that he's trying to make an ISO. He may be trying to update his "online" image to 1537 with the cab/psf on uupdump.net. I suppose he could build the ISO and do the in-place upgrade, but that would probably result in a change of update channel to the Beta channel. That may be undesireable.
you can't install Beta LCU on Retail LCU without in-place upgrade from full ISO if Retail build or Retail ISO was cleaned up it doesn't matter how to install it: WU, CAB+PSF, LCU MSU - it just doesn't work with cleanup at all and it was discussed a ton of times here
I have looked at the issue of the screen brightness controller in Windows 11 and from what I have read it is due to the monitor controller, apparently as the new monitors have a separate internal configuration menu, that option does not appear in Windows 11, in In any case, depending on the video card you have, maybe you can configure it from the card application. In case I don't explain myself well, the monitor comes with a series or a button that gives you the option to configure it without being connected to Windows in which you get brightness, contrast... if Windows recognizes the driver for that monitor, which is already possible. being LG, ASUS... since it is not generic, it omits the brightness setting, because you can do it from the monitor menu itself or through the video card you have. If the monitor does not recognize you, I would put it as generic, in this case you would get the brightness control in Windows 11
thanks for the info, yea im not to bothered ..im using win 10 brightness slider app, the icon in system tray matches the other system icons. I didn't have to do this in win10 however
Maybe he doesn't want to waste his time building a Beta ISO and was just wondering WHY the update didn't work. I sure-as-hell am not going to waste my time building Beta ISOs, everytime a Beta update shows up on UUPDUMP.NET. I am well aware that you can't successfully install the Beta updates over the top of an online image that is in the "General Availability" channel. I don't care about how many times this has been mentioned in this thread. You can build and install all the Beta ISOs you want, knock yourself out.
He only says you can't simply install those beta updates on a cleaned up retail install, the inplace/repair upgrade with a not cleaned up ISO is only needed once, after successfully performing the inplace/repair upgrade and enrolling into the beta channel you can install any beta update by WU.
That's a nice explanation. However, based on his original statement ("Anyone else unable to go from 22621.1485 to 22624.1537?") we don't know what the condition of his image was; Was it cleaned up, regardless of whether it was online or on an ISO or even what update channel he was using (retail or beta). I like your statement: "...after successfully performing the inplace/repair upgrade and enrolling into the beta channel you can install any beta update by WU." I'm not interested in doing a beta in-place upgrade just so I can be on the bleeding edge of Windows 11 updates. There's an old saying: "Beta means broken..." You won't find me singing like a canary in a coal mine, either. Your explanation is still a good one though...
Considering the update failed, it was cleaned up at some point. Even using MSFT original ISO installs won't be able to install beta updates (except the 22621.1 IP Techbench ISOs). You weren't part of the discussion to start with and he explained how the one who asked how to fix it. DEV or Canary maybe, beta is not that beta as before.
