that delay in opening explorer is back, ram usage high again hmmm explorer doesn't show the high ram usage so its something else with a memory leak affecting it i think nothing in processes ..all seems normal but ram is like 3gb more than usual
running maintenance seems to have fixed a few things..like widget dashboard freezing, but i lost the gamepass card and 365 basic card from accounts page in settings , it deleted the feature id's putting them back doesn't work, not that i use them anyway
My explorer seems fine. Do you have network drives mapped? My ram usage seems high as well, but it seems if I run a web browser for multiple days, that process will continue to use more ram until I have to restart it I don't know if that's a memory leak or if they are designed to cache results. Obviously if I'm googling for something, i don't want the browser to save ALL the hits, just the one I found most relevant. AI isn't good enough to know that yet
I use the browser a lot and there comes a time when it gets stuck and I have to use the Wipe or another program to clean the system, once this is done it works normally again until the cache fills up again before this did not happen
For me, I use too many tabs. I have tabs open in edge from when I was running 22621.1755 several weeks ago. So, I haven't cleared the cache in edge for that long. I believe chrome has an extension to swap out / reduce the memory usage of tabs you're not actively using. Not sure about edge, however. I just buy more ram
It's not just that, they have an option in the browser settings "keep running background apps after closing the browser" and most of the Windows apps are running in the background even if you don't use them if you don't have them Disabled
My issue is when the pc's been idle for a while, explorer has a delay on opening and extra 3gb of ram used isn't any of the processes Explorer should be instant when clicking the icon on taskbar, this isn't the case after being idle for a few hours
It's not a bug, nor memory leak.. it's meant to be ... it's how windows works ... relax.. they are just collecting ur data, surveiling ur camera, microphone, and thousand of other things and send it to their server... Just buy a new PC with faster NVme and bigger RAM... and change ur internet connection to a faster one..
already have nvme and plenty of ram, 8cores at 4.5ghz* plus 8 hyperthread, i can understand them taking info of the machine seeing as though its beta, just saying its only a prob for me since latest CU Dont need internet to open explorer I rolled back using system image and is fine.
Please tell me your been sarcastic cause thats the biggest load of dirt ive heard in me life apart from conspiracy theories
AFAIK... "explorer.exe" = had been accessing "internet" from ways back.... Thus my simple solution(s) in #rd Party AV (eg Nortons etc) = add a "always block" mode .... or via Windows Security = in Advance settings = add a new "outgoing block" ... worked for me since Win11-21H1 day's <could've been earlier>
