What exact ISO do you mean, the EnterpriseVL 22631.2361 IP RP ISO? And what install are you now running and what do you want to upgrade to?
i'm currently on 22h2 pro and wanted to a fresh install with 23h2, i was installing: Windows 11 23H2 Enterprise + IoT Enterprise x64 (English) from one of the replies earlier
Pro is present on both ISOs the enterpriseVL (Business ISO) or the Client (Consumer ISO). Just install whatever you want from the used ISO, no need for switching any licenses when clean installing from boot.
If anyone has a Win8/8.1 Pro retail key then can anyone confirm whether it is still possible to upgrade & generate a valid digital license ticket from Win8 to Win10/11 i.e. installing Win8/8.1 Pro fresh & activating it with Win8/8.1 retail Pro key license then, whether it can be upgradable to Windows 10/11 by generating the ticket of digital licensing or not?
I understand what you're asking, but I don't really see WHY you're asking. Heck, I've got at least one (probably more) unused 8.1 Pro license keys around here somewhere, but I'll be danged if I see why anyone would go to the trouble of doing it that way when HWID is working again. Just a matter of curiosity or ??? ON EDIT: Enthusiast beat me to it.
from what i remember i had to buy a win 10 key, but the 8.1 key wasnt genuine it was from those cheap ass sellers, paid a fortune for a proper key
If a win 7 / 8.1 key would still work is it when used directly to activate the 10/11 install. Upgrading from an activated 7/8.1 install won't provide a free HWID anymore.
@Enthousiast & @ohenry I am aware that since Sep 20 (or 26th) 2023, MSFT closed the free activation path from Win7 & 8/8.1, also, aware of the fact that HWID activation still working. There're mainly two reasons I asked this here, 1. I don't wanna just lose my 10yrs old retail Win Pro key just because of a mere BIOS update context: after updating to the latest BIOS version in my MSI Tomahawk, windows deactivated last month, did the BIOS updates earlier & reactivated Windows by clicking on the I recently changed the H/W, but this time it didn't do anything to activate Windows again, presuming as my license is from Win8 Pro key & since MSFT recently closed the activation path so that's why. Also tried putting the key itself but no luck. MSFT CC executives were unable to generate an activation ID from my installation ID as well. 2. I don't have the Win8.1 ISO, time & available system ready to perform this on my own ATM. Win 8.1 Pro ISO can be arranged easily but I can't format my main system right now, so wondering if it is still worth a change just to check whether the old activation path still exists & working or not, if yes then I can use my own key instead of HWID.
this is a good question, i dont know of anyone downgrading using a key in enterprise or pro builds, i would like to know also
Not directly, that needs a clean install or running the registry mod* and an inplace upgrade using the consumer ISO. * Code: reg add "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion" /v EditionID /t REG_SZ /d "Core" /f Can't imagine why you would want to do that
