So I did a clean install and normally I'm blasted by adware apps and whatnot but this time around it was rather clean but one thing that bugs me is that MS Store is missing as is the Photo app. Is anyone else experiencing this with the latest 23H2 release? Or maybe uup dump is just scuffed? I do have a clean ISO from MS and plan on installing it over the weekend but this is rather odd regardless. Browsing the install.wim shows everything intact in *Program Files\WindowsApps\ and then some, but somehow they never got installed. In fact only about 10% of the Apps I recon where even installed to begin with.
Just to make sure: latest 23H2 is safe to use? No any known problems like my computer suddenly explode or something?
I did some searching on the forum as I was getting the same error "0x800f081f" and came across this post which got me thinking, and I think explained why I was getting error 0x800f081f. I downloaded Windows 11 UUP ISO builder from uupdump.net "22631.2506_amd64_en-us_professional_a8198661_convert.zip". Created the ISO. Installed said WinPro in a vm to test which resulted in build 22631.2506 showing in winver. As soon as I ran windows update it showed an update avail "2023-10 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031455)". But it failed to install resulting in "0x800f081f". even when I tried to offline download/install it from Windows update catalog it failed with same error. I did not add/modify/tweak etc.. the iso beyond whatever uupdump.net scripts do to it. so my question is, Why is Official Windows Update wanting to download and install mixed versions of updates to base os builds (IP level updates vs Retail Updates)? If it's not a supported update to that base os build then it should ignore it or at the least let me skip/block it as its annoying to have an update avail shown that I cant install. Or maybe my issue is something different altogether.
There is a "File Explorer" Bug.! When you do an F11 to switch for full screen then F11 to go back to normal window "Address Bar" freezes so no more changing when you switch between different folders or partitions etc...
