To clarify, that command is to show you what channel you're on, it wont show the detailed version number. It was general response to people who were "just going to wait", and "don't want to sign up for Beta", that they can still get it and be on the "Retail" channel.
The thing is that people just install the highest or first update published, in the case of anyone who installed 22621.1601.3 can't install the 22621.105.1.7 update, despite in what channel they are in. And -dlv doesn't show what updates channel is used, the insider app in settings does.
dumb question coming. When I try to upgrade to 22621, the install drops me from Pro to H, and wont let me keep my settings either. While entering a generic product key would solve the first issue Its the second option I really want to keep, I have windows 11 set up just right and dont want to reset it all again. Guess I have to wait til its released in general and upgradable thru official channels.
You mean you get Home offerd when you start the upgrade? When you are upgrading by ISO, use this ei.cfg* in the ISO:\Sources folder: * Code: [Channel] _Default [VL] 0
Windows 10 1607 and Windows 8.1/7 got new updates (irony) other Windows 10 versions and 11 didn't get any 2022-05 .NET CU Preview is actually old update from April Edit: all above updates are non-security anyway
Nice try BUT that is already written into the ei.cfg file. What happens is I dont get offered any version on upgrade, it just does the preinstall and says I will get home (must read the UEFI in the BIOS. Thats no biggies, I can reinstall the Pro key. The bigger problem is the program doesn't let me keep the previous settings and apps. That is greyed out. Thats the area I need addressing. Or simply wait to its officially upgradable.
for the one person following I think I solved the problem. For some reason UUP gave me .Windows Server, hence the install problems. Will download the RIGHT ISO
I was one of the 22000 early adopters, glad i did so too, now updated my home pc (non supported hardware i5 4430)to 22621 but made a system image as backup before update. till now everything is running fine...
