Is it possible to prevent Windows 10/11 on installation to create WinRE partition? I am talking about that partition which is usually 500-800 MB, usually located after the System Partition. I don't have need for that and I want it to prevent it from installing, not deleting it afterwards.
you can just delete it and expand the OS partition if you wish, not advised, its the recovery partition
Yes, when I checked my system there's around 650MB partition (but its not occupied by data), and I am not sure how the recovery works from that specific partition .. I just deleted it and merge with C partition of Windows .. but never delete the said another recovery partition of 100MB + ..
Did you read he don´t want to delete that partition after the install? @0xExynos I think you can do what you want by extracting and deleting the winre.wim from your iso image or maybe adding a Setupcomplete.cmd with comands to do that. not that i made that before, just think it could work.
Not to extend it, to prevent it from being created in the first place. I know what it is for, however I update system manually via clean reinstall in about 4 months give or take. Like I said I don't have any need for it. The 100 MB partition as far as I know is the EFI boot one, I don't touch that. Edit: Dang it, sniped by 5 seconds. Will try that @W_fantasma, and I'll get back to you if it works. Thanks.
2024-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5035853) Live on Windows Update
It has nothing to do with a recovery, it merely boots Windows bootloader from disk, you can simply boot it from USB. In order to delete it you need to disable it first. I use EaseUS Todo PreOS, so I do not need it at all. Code: reagentc /disable
guys on fresh install windows i cant download February 29, 2024—Windows configuration update what problem is that?how to download manually?
WinRE is Windows Recovery Environment [winre.wim], that's needed for recovery. If enabled [=1] then it will not be added to the created ISO
