How many of you are using this (22621.317, or Win 11 22H2) on a daily computer? I am considering the upgrade, but i dont have the ‘luxury’ of testing. I used 22000 for a few months, shortly after the release, but after a painfully slow performance and small but annoying bugs i had to go back to 19044. Windows 10 is at least 2x faster in general, compared to the previous Win11 build (21H2). So yeah, i am curious how usable this years build in real life, especially because it’ll be released soon officially. Thanks, and sorry if it sounds idiotic.
If 22000 already was to much for the hardware why now wanting to go to an even newer windows? Why not stayed on 10 for the time being?
I've upgraded both my personal and work laptops using the official 22621.1 ISO provided by Microsoft but without being enrolled in any Insider Preview rings, and both runs perfectly since then up to 22621.232 (latest CU on retail Windows Update). It's basically the best Windows 11 build so far, finally worth the upgrade from 10 for me.
Still with my ltsc enterprise 2021 Work well. Don't replace good working car with garbage testing car.
I updated the build to 22622.440, but the feature "Dynamic Widgets content on the taskbar" is not enable ? Why ?
Well, its an Asus Rog laptop, ~4 years old, nvme ssd, so its not extremely old/slow for Win11, its more like sluggishness/responsiveness in general in the 22000 build, long(er) delays when opening menus, booting the system etc. Somehow felt weird. Maybe driver issues, i dont really know. I dont say that its horrible, but noticeably slower than it should be. Thanks, this is encouraging actually I might try again after a few more CU-s.
Testing. 22621.1 was the RTM for all (including actual manufacturers) but CUs on top of that are being tested by Beta Insider first then -> RP and only after to Retail/Production channel for all. Along with the shift to annual releases for full upgrade builds, I think Microsoft is getting more and more cautious with public updates (and upgrades), especially considering the current time we live in (where working from home has never been so predominant and important).
I recently spent some time playing with an old computer that I picked up from Goodwill for $9. HP Pavilion P6-2120, AMD A6-3620 cpu. It was minus ram and hard drive, so I put in 2x4 gigs of DDR3 from my junk drawer, and an old 320 gig spinning hard drive. I used this to play with installing Windows 10 and Windows 11, using an autounattend.xml file. I was also playing with a new batch script for installing some of my favorite applications. I noticed no real difference in performance between Windows 10 and 11 on this rig. I also spent some time playing with an even older HP Compaq 8000 Elite. With a core2 duo E8500, 2 cores at 3.16 ghz, 4 gigs of memory and a spinning hard drvie. I'm not sure if it was the small amount of memory, but that computer bogged rather badly, with 10 or 11. A clean install wasn't bad, but once I added a real anti-virus and a few other background processes (Iobit Uninstaller), performance was really bad. Really really bad. I attribute that partly to the low memory, and partly to only having 2 cpu cores. I think in this day and age, you really need at least 8 gigs of memory and 4 cpu cores. And that is for Windows 10 or 11. I really don't believe there is much difference under the covers between Windows 10 and 11.
It is very usable on an 11 years old computer (which was close to be top of the range at that time). But if you are concerned and don't want to spend the time to make it working, stay with the the "safer" 19044. Edit: Maybe I should say that I have not installed any of the betas and stayed with the mainstream Insider Preview, currently .317.
spotlight not working on desktop and lock screen in 22622.440 only blossom wallpaper. nothing in Assets folder try delete settings.dat and reregister content delivery service but nothing work
Release Preview is the branch that Public will be seeing later this year, Beta is testing for Windows 11 features in 2023, Dev is testing for Windows features in 2023 and the future
