Nope, never needed to look into other things since Rufus worked, and appears to be a lot quicker than either method It's just an install image; I expect to use it once, and then wipe the USB drive I used for something else. Those other methods are useful to know about, but as far as I can see, they don't offer an actual benefit over Rufus (aside from this one situation where Rufus unexpectedly doesn't work)
FAT32 formatted USB drive with extracted ISO to it's root can be used for LegacyBios/MBR and UEFI/GPT boots, rufus can do one or the other, depending on the method of creation.

Curious question, but why can't we use DISM to downgrade Windows? It has no problem installing the same version or upgrading but not downgrading. Is this just because it's untested?
