Would upgrading from ISO/USB instead of download through WU fix this?
    • Some PCs may rollback with error code 0xc1900101-0x4001c when installing this build. If you hit this, after the PC rolls back to the previous build, you may want to pause updates until we release a fix.
    I got this with rollback.
Installation Failure: Windows failed to install the following update with error 0xC1900101: Windows 11 Insider Preview 22499.1000 (rs_prerelease).

Or should I just not bother with this.

Failed twice after trying to update from 22494 using the replace Appraiserress 'trick'. Namely it stalls for a while at 48% then reboots with an option that looks like
    Windows 11
    Windows Setup
    Windows 11.

If I click either of the Windows 11, it accelerates quickly to 75% then reboots to those three options. The default option is Setup, if I click that , it recovers to the previous Build.
I think I'll either stay on 494 or try a clean install of 499

Appraiserres.dll replacement/renaming/removing is for skipping the requirement checks during upgrade setup, once upgrading it should no longer be appraiserres.dll related.

To be sure you can use https://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/win-11-boot-and-upgrade-fix-kit.83724/ option 2 and check if the UFWS method doesn't show this faillure.

If I understand you well you mean replacing the dll at or about the 6% point during the setup, right?
Well yeah, that's what I meant too. It goes through that process then the usual restart to install. And at that point it has the breakdown at 48%.

I had to do this as a clean install too, GSOD otherwise with no other clues. My primary OS almost crapped out too, rocky ride today.

first faiure since 84... however rollback sucessful

    info:
    We couldn't install Windows 11
We've set your Pc back to the way it was before you started installing Windows 11
    Code:
    0xC1900101 - 0x4001C
The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with aan error during BEGIN_SECOND_BOOT operation

0xC1900101 is a driver error... but installation doesn't point to which driver... am assuming at this point
that it is the 'NEW' x-box facility (boosting gaming performnce) that m$ is trying to implement within this latest upgrade.
(Direct Storage requiring 'Standard NVME Controller' - M$ sourced instead of (in my case) the actual samsung (unofficial)
driver that I use which provides a better throughput (minimum 30% improvement) than the M$ recommended one

Mind you I am actually trying to upgrade with all peripherals attached... will try again tomorrrow...
