In my case, if the Skip is not running or installed prior to upgrading, the FIX alone is not enough for me to upgrade. That is why I have to do it this way. I tried without it and get that Server error and won't install..
What server error? When a failure occurs when upgrading from non dev channel to dev channel, run the upgrade_fail.cmd first. Dev to dev should not give any error.
Actually, it's the other way around: if you use the dynamic bypass script, you don't need the "FIX" anymore, you can just use an unmodified iso directly
My laptop comes with TPM 2.0 this is what i did i went offline deleted all the files in the software distribution folder and install it manually using the UUP ISO and for some strange reason it install with out any issues.
Next time when I upgrade I will use the SKIP and upgrade from WU and see. If that doesn't work, I will then try the UUP build with the SKIP.. If it doesn't work, I will then try No SKIP and use the FIX with option 2 and see if that works. If I get that server error, I will attempt a Screen Print and post it..
I was running the build and I wanted to try the UUP update instead of WU. Wanted to see if THAT worked. I have been having some problems with using WU for updating.. Does that answer your question??
I was getting the Server error posted earlier when trying the WU. Upon trying the UUP version i had no problems. Both times I used the SKIP v5.. So, I am going to use nothing but the UUP versions with the SKIP...
@okaussie3 probably had multiple bypass scripts installed like the very old dynamic v1. It did not matter up to 22509, but afterwards it does. Previous bypass methods are no longer advised, so I have re-added force remove for all previous methods in v7 to prevent such issues. Also removed the zipped old versions to not cause confusion.
Ah, ok, it's your tool that caused the server errors, i assumed they were talking about my ufws implementation, but that's for ISO upgrades only, so couldn't find the relation to WU.
@BAU, based on your post, I will run V7 of the skip to remove any previous versions then install just V7, then try WU to see if that works. If it does, GREAT, if it does not then I will use the V7 with the UUP.. Thx for the info...
ISO setup was unaffected and still works fine with older type of bypass that just delete / replace appraiserres.dll, other file-deny (v5) or <INSTALLATIONTYPE>Server modified wim / esd. Only via WU things got more complicated after 22509 adding an extra check for the compatibility report. But the older bypasses still work there as well in the end, it just takes 5-7 failed attempts, then WU will accept the incomplete report. It's natural that people get frenzy and try everything they can to get it to work asap, and me making all the previous methods available certainly caused more confusion than it needs to be. I have recently made everything clearer by supporting just one type of bypass - the /Product Server trick. ufws implementation is fine!
