Microsoft has started sending codes to redeem a free Windows 11 reinstallation USB drive for those who don't want to stay in the canary channel. "Windows 11 Clean Installation Kit". I don't need this as I don't plan on downgrading to the Dev Channel, but it would be a great collector's item lol. As a sidenote, I noticed they are making such a huge deal about the canary channel being unstable and all.. Next Valley is going to be a massive OS upgrade... Also my feedback entry about killing off a/b testing on the canary channel and ramping up build cadence on that channel got mysteriously deleted from the FB Hub... or moved elsewhere.
I love that Microsoft in retrospect is concerned enough about its Dev testers that it's sending out USB sticks, but didn't bother to plan ahead in making the transition in the first place so that those who wanted to get off the speeding train actually had a reasonable way of doing so.
im in the insider program and never received any e-mail for MS ....how do we get the redemption code?
They said the free USB drive is literally just that... a free, blank USB flash drive. LOL. Maybe some cheap brand 8GB drive. Users are expected to create their own install media using that flash drive. (Source: Today's Windows Insider webcast).
On another note... Just watched Windows Central's latest podcast... As happened to Windows 11, we won't see any major UI/UX changes to Canary Channel builds for a very long time... We will only begin testing "full" Windows 12 after MSFT announces it officially in some event next year. But don't be mistaken... these 25xxx series builds are Next Valley. The underpinnings, internal platform changes for the new OS. But also as happened last time, some of these UI changes will invariably end up showing publically in the Canary Channel in the next few weeks/months... ------ I believe that, when we get to the point they no longer can hide stuff before the official announcement, they'll simply stop shipping Canary channel builds for several weeks, as they did in 2021. I think we will begin seeing pre-reset-longhorn-level instability as these builds progress.
