Bravo. Couldn't agree more, it's bloody awful! They've now even removed "Use selected program to open all supported file types". I use MPC-Be too, replied to a post about crappy default apps settings yesterday. The thread is entitled "[DISCUSSION] Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22000.xxx", surely posting about features you dislike or removed features is relevant in the thread.
The number of ignored feedbacks is endless (like the UI problems of Win11). I don't even know why they introduced the feedback hub, if they ignore what they get from it. Anyway...they set a deadline for Win10 to 2025, just to release a better Win11 version.
They said we would get windows 10 for 10 years from the beginning, probably not even thinking of going to Win 11 at that time, considering 10X would become what now seems to becoming Win 11.
Discussion is productive and thoughtful. Ranting and raving about how everything is "s**t" because it doesn't fit their personal wants on an early actively-in-development product designed for millions is not discussion. Nor is it mine or Microsoft's fault if someone just wants the new shiny thing being waved near them because they're entitled, and don't understand how to appropriately manage their expectations, what an Insider build is or the correct way to act with one. Especially when they could just eff off and find something else they can use. They aren't owed what they want, and they have the option to do so.
people stop complaining a ton of the testers here are using win11 for there main OS STOP DOING THAT!!!!
Updated my post above with another screenshot. Curious why "Always use this app" isn't showing in your right click choose a program dialog? Is "Always use" there if you try another filetype, .mp3, .txt or something? Update: Watched your vid again. Can only guess that something is borked in your file associations setup, and guess that's why "Always Use" isn't showing. Update: Only just noticed this. Always Use only shows when you right click a file and choose Open With in Explorer. It doesn't show when you choose a filetype in Settings /Default Apps.
Stop giving this excuse. I have been hearing this since 2015. If a OS has non-user friendly crony-capitalist settings in a newly revamped settings app then it is by design and cannot be defended saying "its a bEtA oS". Besides, I have 3 os multiboot on a RAID 0 SSD setup with regular Macrium back up into a NAS. I can reimage discs and switch between os faster than the time it took to write this post lol.
An RTM build is designed to be installed and delivered with no further updating. That is why I call this insider build not an RTM. To be fair, it is possible that they make a future iso where they include half the ISO with cumulative update deltas so that the renew pc option won't remove them and all of the relevant updated cbs features are complete at some future point. I just don't think it's very likely. What I think is far more likely is that MS is using these insider builds for publicity and to tweak the UI and their newer features. They will then roll the code into their main company build. They're probably already doing it as they go, and bug squashing all the way. MS has an agreement with these companies that they will deliver a complete OS. Some of the customers don't have internet at all, and MS knows that. They even have to active by phone. So yes, this build is not RTM, but at some future point it technically could be made into one. I just doubt it.
Yes, RTM is an over-used term but it still has a purpose. It just means Release to Manufacturers, but in practical terms, it means a finished product. Like I was was telling boops, some customers do not even have internet. They cannot update even if they want to. When they buy a computer with Windows installed, it has to be finished. They even have to activate by phone. The OS cannot need any further patching. These insider builds as is, do not match that requirement. They DEFINITELY need further patching to be complete. They are not what anyone would consider a finished product. They still use Win10 keys. I haven't noticed any dism functionality that requires a new dism tools. No KMS difference despite new OS. They have made major UI changes and included some Apple-esque video chat, most of which seem to be buggy. I understand that there will not be a huge difference between Win10 and Win11 as they were being developed simultaneously. I'm not judging it incomplete on that aspect. I'm saying it's incomplete because it is missing many of the things that make it a finished OS, and that is what is required for it to be called an RTM. I understand that you aren't focused on calling it an RTM and it isn't even really your argument. I'm saying that this OS is not done. It needs more time in the oven. It is not complete. It is not RTM.
Because that doesn't work. And in Windows 11 they removed the option to set default application for type of content; you can only set association for individual extensions. Like, what the f**k was this needed for?
Windows 11 RTM crash like Windows 10 IP builds. Many links from desktop or taskbar (to Settings-> ...) not working. For example : Win+Pause should show Settings->System->About. It shows only Settings->System.
