Probably they'll already release new builds of new branch from the next month or soon, with a series of new stuff (including Android apps). Otherwise their past presentation doesn't have much sense.
There's a lot of things they announced that aren't in the 22000 build. Android apps, Direct Storage, Auto HDR (At least to my knowledge I haven't seen any info about them being there)
They said that the free update will be available in 2022. So guess everything has been postponed to nickel...?
They've had this stuff in development for years. It's not like they couldn't implement them into a build. But this build? So close to release? I'm beginning to become doubtful. They have a history of making an RTM about a month before the release date so they can test it thoroughly. I'm not going to piss people off and get predictive on that, but I just don't think they have time to make a new build, shove all these new things in it, and also debug all the things they need to debug in time for release. Time is running too short now. I can't predict what the final release will actually contain or look like, but I'm not optimistic. I'll say that much. It smells to me of disappointment.
I think by now, angry or not, some users have to start believing that these things will be postponed to next year (unless of eventually surprises).
It is from proper developer but its a develepment build not public release. we can say it as beta build : Testing & Improvements for final public release.
If OEMs are forced to slap "Windows 11 Ready" stickers on Windows 10 machines for the Holidays, nobody is going to be happy.
22000.1 also didn't have the new Windows 11 settings page, the new Microsoft Teams native integration, the new Store and more. All got updated/enabled via regular CUs and/or Store and/or Drivers updates Same thing may happen for other missing features with GA CU.
I don't know much about the appx packages in 22000. There's a weird one named Microsoft.549981CF5F10 If that's that team app, cumulative updates won't affect it. I haven't run the powershell command to remove it so I don't know if it is or not. But yeah, the bulk of the Insider updates we've seen have been ui changes and a few tweaks and bugfixes here and there. I really don't suspect there is enough time for any major changes. You very well might be right in that they might release a RTM with just a big bugfix cumulative. Don't worry I won't get into a debate on the specifics.
i think microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore\Applications is the Teams appx Microsoft.549981CF5F10 is CortanaApp.View.App which is safe to remove since Cortana is no loner being developed ?
Well an easy way to tell if a cumulative update would affect the Teams video chat program is to run that powershell script that removes all appx packages. Those only remove things like the store, prereqs and store apps. They don't remove system apps that are installed and updated via the windows update function like cortana or microsoft edge. It's not that I couldn't figure out which one it applies to. It's that I don't care enough to find out.
Auto HDR is available, just needs to be enabled in the System -> Display -> HDR settings. I've been using it for the past couple of builds.
