I found that Defender Control runs before Defender is loaded. Defender Control turns it off then it loads and turns itself back on. I did a quick workaround: @echo OFF timeout /t 10 >nul start "C:\Program Files (x86)\DefenderControl\dControl.exe" /d This seems to do the job even if inelegant.
He is just another "mind" that believe to knows the other persons by their complains, about an OS version blatantly worse than previous. Sometimes I think that it's really crazy how someone easily able to underestimate themself, at the point of not being able to have a own critical thinking about something. Users for whom everything is always fine ahahaha.
Despite having OCD, I am probably one of the biggest MS fanboys out there. I didn't complain when Win8 rolled out without a start menu. I didn't particularly care for the change, but I tried to look on the bright side and see the positives in it. There were none. They just wanted people to use the new store. They made everyone go through the UI equivalent of the store to normalize the change and everyone hated it. I still didn't complain and I tried to be optimistic. I'm trying to be optimistic and look for the positives in the changes between Win10 and Win11 and I just don't see them as a desktop user with a mouse and keyboard interface who never uses video chat. I am blind in one eye so I can't use HDR displays or Auto-HDR. Any theoretical performance increase brought by Direct Storage has already been promised to Win10 as well. So I ask you, what could I possibly like about Win11? What is there to look forward to? Sell me on this OS
Could you please avoid comparing OCD to user expectations regarding a product? By doing so it seems that everyone who works with dedication and care (in one word: well) is mentally ill ahahaha.
I was comparing my expectations. A person with OCD is typically extremely reactionary to any change. If people think I'm frustrating to argue with, they would not like to meet my father. I at least acknowledge that other people's opinions have a right to exist. He doesn't. He also has OCD, but he's not as smart as I am. I got my cognitive ability from my mother. As far as expectations go, yes people have a right to expect some sort of consideration. If they're used to a desktop experience and MS completely abandons that approach for a touch-screen approach, they have every right to not only complain but to not buy the product and not "upgrade" to the product, even if said upgrade is free.
Mine was a limited reference to expectations obviously. P.S: ...and about these, give a look to the my previous post ahahaha.
So I ask you, what could I possibly like about Win11? What is there to look forward to? Sell me on this OS The New UI is enough for me.
Yeah, that is sad but this still is a beta build. If stuff like that happens in the final release, and I suspect it might, then people really have a right to complain. Right now I just have a bad impression and I have a strong belief that the design philosophy will be final for a touch screen first OS, which I absolutely do not want. I can't be the only person who doesn't like using touch screen devices for everyday use. Why are they trying to turn personal computers into phones?
I'm not against changes. I'm just going to take my time to explore those changes and see when I'll be able to switch to 11 smoothly.
With all those legacy menus still in the system? I don't know, it could be a problematic philosophy even for those with a touch device. In every case, until now, my bet on the fate of the final version doesnot seem likely to change. Hope I'm wrong (I wish so much :-/).
Well this is just the first release. I'm betting that if people don't like the first release, they will change a few things for the refresh a year down the line. If that is the case, that one might actually be worth getting excited for. This one I am definitely unenthused about.
True. The dumb****s at MS just never learn. CREATE an OS for keyboard and mouse first. But instead they cater to 0.001% minority touch screen users while 99.999% of their users are screaming on top of their voices that they want an OS optimised for keyboard and mouse for once. Seeing the backlash this stupid new start menu has received, I bet MS will make drastic changes to it. I will tell you from my experience….. this new start menu design somehow prevents you from opening certain apps like weather. Previously I used to launch Weather app daily through pinned live tile. But not any more. It’s MS loss not mine. Even their dumb so-called widget opens edge while technically it should have opened the weather app itself. It’s like MS themselves have no faith in their own apps.
Don't get me wrong, the new UI is what I was looking for (also if not soo oversized like seen until now), especially that of the upcoming new Notepad and Paint. They are also really useful to having correctly scalable screen elements. i just regret not being able to have the same UI also on Task Manager or Administration Tools (Device Manager elements for example are really tiny compared to the newer ones).
I really hope that a re-write of those things are coming soon. They look so outdated and out of place in Windows 11.
If they'll do that in a short time, they'll got a more manageable code. See what happens to Windows 10 derived elements, replaced very quickly compared to the legacy components. This is a big step forward.
In the OOBE section they should give the user options on how to set up the UI scale according to their needs. If the user is using a touch screen they should pick the large options. If they are on Desktop they can choose large, medium, or small with medium being what would be considered normal for a desktop user. Every time a new user is created and logs in for the first time they should have the choice to set the default scale options. If they are serious about having both the touch screen and desktop user options at the same time, they should do something like this. But what they shouldn't do is just make touch screen the default when almost nobody uses it by default.
Perhaps its more they are trying to GET RID OF THE MOUSE. I am with you, touch screens are fine on phones, BUT there are soooo many disadvantages on the big screen. Apart from the fact that after a while, you can see all the wear marks on the screen, this needing new monitors all the time, you can do so much more with mouse control than touch. You can see unfortunately where M$ is heading, targeting those pads people carry. Just as Desktops are being well and truly superceded with laptops, Touch is overpowering mouse users.
