A word of warning to those expecting a free update on 5 October. Even if you meet the requirements, M$ has stated the update rollout will go well into 2022. In other words, not everyone will get the update straight away. One can speculate they will release it to the newest machines first, see how they perform, do updates on problems, then do rollout updates with slightly older machines, check again how it goes, fix problems, and so on and so on. If one is entitled to the update, and want it 5 October, you may have to download an ISO to do so.
Yes, if you followed the thread you'd see that solution was posted many posts back. Irrelevant now anyway, its updating through the store now.
It takes people 10 minutes or so to read the forum, yet are concerned about the few seconds Windows takes to boot or perform its tasks.
Got this error, only change I did during clean usb flash install was choosing region as english-europe I can skip it though, let's see...
Because in their minds boot time should improve not worsen. I don't see a problem with their query. The majority of us aren't bothered but those, not us, are the people who discover issues and offer solutions.
@crossup Optimization is the last thing you'll see these days. Resource hungry, memory consuming OS and apps demand newer CPUs and more RAM. It's just part of Microsoft and its partners' game. And yes, the Start Menu is ridiculously bloated and slow for something that should be so simple and responsive. About TPM and Secure Boot, saying that they improve security, just makes me laugh. Not that I care about user tracking, our phones have been doing this for years, but Windows still includes some old drivers with security issues.
This is how Windows 10 free upgrade was rolled out.. A few of my PCs got it but, not all of them... but, a ISO took care of the issue... Just waiting for that final before upgrading a few machines...
