I know many people here are smart enough and they know the dangers of joining the dev channel on their main PCs, But I want to warn the others who are eager to install Windows 11 through this channel so that they don't make my mistake. If you join this channel you will not be able to exit it without clean installing Windows. Use OfflineInsiderEnroll now to exit the insider program before they send a new build with a number that might be higher than the one that they will send to the beta and preview channels.
Windows Tools is renamed Administrative Tools Not Control Panel. Control Panel is still Control Panel. Just Type Control Panel in Search You are there.
So many people are joining the insider program for the first time just to install Windows 11 and they don't know the consequences of joining the dev channel
Have installed the Dev update Windows 11. I find that VPNs are not connecting, both Nord and Surfshark, when they are set to use Wireguard. But Wireguard app itself connects w/o problem. The error in Device Manager says: "Windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device. (Code 56)" Has anyone had such a problem, and if so do they have a solution ? Regards Edit: Uninstalling and re-installing the VPN apps did the trick !
Why bother joining the dev channel when you can get the updates here on MDL? You can cherry pick the updates, and hold off until something worthwhile comes along.
22000.51 has additional new stuff enabled like new Settings, Explorer and context menus. Those things are not fully baked yet and cause some slowdowns and unstability. If you disable those things then this build is the same as leaked build in terms of snappiness and stability.
Yeah... so desktop context menus: you get this initial shell with an option on the bottom: "Show more options" -- when you click that it unfolds original context menu. Weird. Explorer revamp is drastic. I'm kind of liking the simple and clean Copy/Paste/Delete button on right-click, used the Delete option naturally without feeling I'm retraining much. I do kind of like some of the Settings changes, it's a better layout in many ways. I'm going to install Dev build live today but I'm hoping they aren't getting rid of translucency and other UI elements I liked in the leaked build.
