Still remember its insider build wit lots problems, so it say it self there can be problems with gaming and other thing, install only for test not for use as main OS.
Yes. You can even disable and then re-enable the graphics driver and the widgets screen will continue to work - until the next reboot. To be fair, this is a very old laptop - 2010 model - so I'm not too surprised. Just wanted to see what works and what doesn't. I am surprised, however, that there are others reporting the same issue.
I believe Microsoft sets the bar too high for such a feature. After disabling the graphics driver there is the instant lost of the rounded corners. For me it is of no consequence resorting to some random requirements all in the name of forcing people to purchase new "compatible" devices. I hope reasoning through prevailed and Microsoft will make some of the requirements optional for old systems during installations in the future.
kb5004569 is setup dynamic update (i.e. manual files to replace in th ISO\sources) not real update that can be added with dism since build 21382, they changed the LCU (kb5004564) format to be express-like you cannot use the cab file directly, you will need the corresponding psf file, and use PSFExtractor to generate the update ayload then use the extracted folder path with dism
KB5004568(WinPE) Spoiler: My result KB5004567_KB5004568_KB5004564(RollupFix)_SSU(ServicingStack) integrate in to two indexes boot.wim (Windows_Setup, Recovery_Environment) + in winre.wim (Recovery_Environment) KB5004567_KB5004564(RollupFix)_SSU(ServicingStack) integrate in install.wim (for Home, Pro); In Team - no (+almost all Features in this edition is disabled). NetFX3 in all Editions - Enabled ... WU installing KB5004034 (Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8) + KB5004564 (once again, But the initial installation date will not change) The verification (sfc/scannow) will report an error, dism /Online /CleanUp-image /RestoreHealth - does not help ... Xeon X5450 (on s775) on MBR
So is Microsoft moving back to the old express format? As a side note, the express format has never worked in a reliable manner in the offline equivalent of WU which is WSUS, the full files being the preferred and many times the only reliable format.
It's actually new PSFX format Code: PackageFormat="PSFX" PSFXVersion="2" PSFXDeltaFormat="ForwardOnly" normal (old) express format contain every possible delta files and full files, thus psf file is big PSFXVersion 2 takes the concept of express format, but it only contain forward PSFX delta files therefore, when doing online installation, WU only download and generate missing/needed PSFX payload, cab file only contain the manifests PSFXVersion 1 cab file is static, you must download the whole file for installation, regardless if only one PSFX file is needed
Even though I have been apprehensive about building ISOs from UUP components, I admit that I've never had any security issues or problems with UUP ISOs, not even once. And I don't care if it builds the boot.wim from the winre.wim. UUP ISOs seem to run fine when they are finished and installed.
I upgraded to this build from the Dev Channel but I don't have the NEW File Explorer. I haven't tampered in any way(maybe only a registry to show the recycle bin on the navigation pane) Any ideas? Restarted the PC, restarted the File Explorer itself, nothing works.
Is it worth a shot trying by applying the registry setting manually? Afterwards you may need to to restart Explorer from Task Manager or reboot. Ren RegEdit and navigate to: Code: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced Change, or if not there create a new 32-bit DWORD value named SeparateProcess 2 possible values for SeparateProcess 0 Disable 1 Enable
First, I want to say thank you for your fast replies. I tried this method, the DWORD was already there as (1). I changed it to (0), restarted the File Explorer, restarted the PC but I still have the OLD UI. I don't know if I am lucky or not at this point. xD Edit: I should mention that i HAVE the NEW right-click menu though..... But the Ribbon UI is still there!
I'm all out of guesses, is this that thing I've seen mentioned where ppl fix something by going to Device Manager and disable/re-enable Display Adaptor/Disable Device to fix the Explorer ribbon problem? Don't know.
