So, this is the "Cloud PC" thingy, and it wasn't a new SKU I hope its "cheap" at least. VPS are already quite expensive and theyre the closest thing i can imagine to Windows 365
If this ever comes to consumers, it will be great way for those who can't upgrade to Windows 11 to get their hands on it...
Yep. Something that force you to buy a powerful 2022 PC to do things that a dumb and powerless X-terminal did in 1990 That's real evolution
For the life of me I can't understand the point of this. You need a computing device with an operating system to connect to another computing device with an operating system for the purpose of sharing resources. I could see this infrastructure being useful for a work user being able to access their machine from multiple devices, but beyond that it makes no sense to me.
That's a "brilliant" evolution of the razor and blades marketing model. Here you're going to buy the razor and the blades then you go to the saloon and pay the barber to get shaved
Another incarnation of "We don't want to sell consumers products, we want to ensnare them in perpertual 'relationships'"
I could understand them selling an app to connect to another computer like vmware but cloud based, but I get the impression that's not what they're offering here. The name is this thing gives me the impression that it's like an OS subscription version like their Office version. Considering that I haven't paid for an OS since Windows 95, I'd consider that a huge downgrade from free.
It reminds me of running AAA games from Stadia or xCloud on a low end PC, If you can't run an app on your PC/Mobile/Ipad because it needs high system requirements you can run it from the cloud It's useless for you and me but many people will find it useful for them
Can be KMS activated? Should be possible because it is advertised for small andoand large organizations.
Is it though? It's just an operating system. Video games have extremely high constant hardware demands. Your phone has an operating system.
I'm talking about Windows apps especially Also, I'm thinking about this, What if we can run video games on it? It will be cheaper than xcloud! You can for example subscribe for one month only and download a free game from a charity website ( you know what I mean) to play it on low end PC/laptop
If it is also for large organizations, and you subscribe for Windows 365 Enterprise, i doubt they will set up low end hardware, also organizations need good hardware to work with. Best would be Windows 365 Enterprise, KMS activated, with Office 365 .
