Any way to bypass the stupid "Connect to Microsoft account" screen? I'm going to join it to my domain just as soon as it's finished installing, don't want to connect my MS account to a throwaway local user.
Just for everyone's reference: You have 2 upgrade paths to 8.1 preview. You can download the manual update from Microsoft's website which will add the 8.1 update to the app store, or you can download the torrent listed several times in this thread to get a burnable iso and do a clean install (official iso's will be available later in the day directly from Microsoft's website.). When it comes down to upgrading from the preview to rtm build of 8.1: if you took the first of the 2 upgrade paths to the preview it should be the exact same way to upgrade to rtm. If you took the second path I believe Microsoft will make a 8.1 iso available to everyone through the upgrade assistant like they did when 8 originally became available. The biggest difference is that by using path 1 you will retain your original product key from 8 to 8.1, while the second path you will use a Microsoft provided product key. B
Oh I see..I guess the best thing to do is activate the official windows 8, then download the preview..but will downloading the preview put that annoying watermark at the bottom, if thats the case wouldnt it look weird, turning on the PC and seeing some annoying watermark(Even after its already been activated) When I do a final clean version I wouldnt have to reinstall windows 8, I would just download the official windows 8.1 and it will overwrite what I already have?
Actually Mega was down on real debrid when i converted the torrent. I have pumped 56Gb on my seedbox and still counting.
After upgrading Win 8 to 8.1 Preview you have to reinstall the system when RTM is released. Better install in VM or Dualboot. Preview cannot be upgraded to RTM.
Reinstall windows entirely? Damn doesnt that suck for people who are installing this preview knowing that they have to install windows 8 from scratch again when the RTM one comes out? Guess I can always do it it will be a pain in the butt but probably worth it..or should I just wait til October til the RTM comes out and continue using windows 7 til it comes out? I guess it depends what others have to say about 8.1 and if it fixes some of the bugs that windows 8 contained
