Windows 8.1 Preview runs great on my Lenovo S10e with "Downscaling" for apps to work as resolution is to low normally. Even with only 1gb ram she is fast clean comparing to the sister notebook with 2Gb running Windows 8 Pro with touch screen installed. Now just to get gestures to work on touchpad.
MS account When prerelease software goes public, threads get cluttered with useless info, good stuff often gets lost I too think it has many advantages, but I think it needs a more user friendly way to view suspended apps instead of task manager (although it's simplified since Windows 8) I'm already working on it , but this doesn't work for me: Nevermind, it works now.
I mentioned the task manager because it was in the demo, but I noticed that if the app is in tombstone state, it opens immediately on double click of the metro tile, to the previous state.
yep, that's exactly what Faikee wrote in some posts. You need to drag down the app to the bottom and wait until it flips > totally closed. If you don't let it flip, it stays open in the background
I deleted that post, seems I forgot my glasses when was posted the same thing....I just discovered now and thought that is new...
Between Wednesday night & Sunday morning I had me a heck of a time trying to get 8.1 to even download, never mind anything else... the update didn't show up in the Store, the update patch to enable the update kept telling me "Computer Says No!" , I tried downloading from the ISOs when they were released - they'd zip along all the way to just past 20% before freaking out to go no further; so I tried the classic "Refresh" option, but waddya know: no update in Store, patch won't work either! HOWEVER I went to the ISO download site via Internet Explorer Metro & away she went, ziiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip... 91% downloaded in around 30 minutes... and then it bloomin' well stuck on the remaining 9% for about another hour, all the way to the last 9 "seconds", with me doing a lot of begging for completion: and finally! And then it installed and set up and rah rah rah, reinstallation of everything, etc... Had to visit Mr Google to find out how to boot directly to the desktop... turns out it's right-click on taskbar -> properties -> navigation And now the newly-updated Classic Shell is taking the place of the 8.1 start menu And apart from Firefox acting like a complete jerk, she's all apples mate!
