But if your BIOS is still set to UEFI then your need a UEFI bootable USB with the right edition of Windows. It should repair the current installed Windows and make it boot as UEFI, if not just put the BIOS back to Legacy Boot.
Actually there's no way to repair the boot. The HDD is either in MBR/legacy mode or in GPT/UEFI mode. The only way to go from legacy to UEFI is to diskpart, clean disk convert GPT, only then can you install UEFI mode. (By using DVD, or USB formatted as fat32,USB ntfs won't work)
Did you know with a 32 Bit OS installed on a Quad Core processor it will never run at Full performance. Any more than Single Core and with at least 2GB of ram, you should always install a 64 Bit OS. Unless its XP, but with no support now who would install XP. I Recommend:- Single Core = min 1GB of RAM running Windows 7 32 Bit. Dual Core = min 2GB of RAM Running Windows 7 or 8, 8.1 64 Bit. Quad Core = min 4GB of RAM Running Windows 8 or 8.1 64 Bit. Six Core = min 8GB of RAM Running Windows 8 or 8.1 64 Bit. Eight Core = min 16GB of RAM Running Windows 8 or 8.1 64 Bit. For best CPU performance you should have a minimum of 1GB per processing Core. For Ultimate performance Eight Core CPU,s really need a 128 Bit OS, come on Microsoft get your fingers out! Rumours go that Windows 9 with be 64 Bit and 128 Bit only NO 32 Bit anymore, for real by the way.
Have the same issue with one of my PCs. Updates went fine. Noticed that disk cleanup didn't pick up any windows update cleanup files (the other pcs did). sfc /scannow passes. dism /checkhealth flags a repairable component store but /restorehealth can't fix it with the same error as above. WinSxS was ~3gb bigger that on an -identical- PC that had no probs. I used /startcomponentcleanup to reduce it by 2gb. It works fine so far, but will probably do a clean re-install at some point...
So many threads, gotta ask: I need an untouched ISO file with Update 1 on torrent I need Windows 8.1 with Update 1 x64 on torrent. I cannot find any torrent or magnet link that will confirm it is genuinely untouched. I am confused of all these threads. In EN-US.

no., MS gives this original updated iso file to the manufactures as genuine software. If anyone has access to one of these rare files, you can be happy. Afaik Murphy has one on his list and you can be sure that it is untouched because MDL does not allow modified isos
