If you employ any sort of tweaks or custom a/v programs, updates can cause these kinds of problems. Things like this are why I usually only use reg tweaks when not offered an official option through the various gui or command line functions. It's also why I don't care for system tweak/cleaner tools. People like to give MS crap , but I find that their official documentation and programs always seem to function well when you use them as intended.
Hi all, Lately, do you have these 12 updates that Windows-updates (Win8.1PRO with WMC) keep trying to install at every reboot, but always Fail ? Some people said Delete SoftwareDistribution, and do DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth, then DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, Download then Manual-Install, etc . Although done successfully, these 12 updates still Failed 1) Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2957151) 9.9 MB FAILED 2) Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based 3) Systems (KB2931358) 322 KB FAILED 4) Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2931366) 584 KB FAILED 5) Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2920189) 31 KB FAILED 6)Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2926765) 13.1 MB FAILED not applied/superseded 7) Update for .NET Native on Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB2954879) 105 KB FAILED 8) Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2939153) 4.7 MB 9) Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2950153) 213 KB FAILED 10) Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2956575) 12.7MB FAILED 11) Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2958262) 2.0 MB FAILED 12) Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB2965065) 401 KB Thank you all.
I only use Windows Defender + SpyBot Search and Destroy-2 (only for immunisation) and CCleaner for removing the temp-files. Beside that I only use via Start-up: - Stardock Start8 - Stardock WindowsBlinds 8 - cFosSpeed - Logitech- / Shogun Bros.- / Roccat- / Razor- / Zalman-Driver-Software - Asus AI - Suite II - Raptr - Total Commander Ultima Prime - Asus AiChargerPlus - Btmshellex - Canon IJ Network Scan Utility - Intel Rapid Store Technology - NVIDIA Control Panel / GeForce Experience - Gigabyte OC Guru II - iTunes Helper - Realtek Audio Manager - RegistryHelper - XBoxStat - Apple Quicktime I never use Registry-Cleaner's, but update certain apps via Ninite and the only known issue I have is, that I can't update / un-install my Adobe Acrobat Reader anymore (No valid sequence could be found for the set of patches.).
hahaha... ONLY all that stuff... Start8 is a system file hack. System file hacks are not meant to be future-proof. I don't know what some of those things are, but I'm pretty sure that some of that list could be causing you problems.
WindowBlinds is even worse and ways more invasive . Also i never trusted OC Software, this is done best in BIOS/UEFI .
It would be a lot more, but I disabled quite a few. I have removed all the other Stardock-Software, maybe I get rid of the rest next time when I re-install my system, which should be soon, as I plan to get some new GPU's. Gigabyte OC-Guru-II is for my GPU's (Gigabyte GTX680-SOC-2GB in 2-Way-SLI). GPU-Tweak caused me some issues in the past. Which other GPU-OC-Tool would you recommend ? MSI Afterburner ?
Had lot of trouble with Stardock at friends systems . Tested the GIGABYTE OC tool only shortly and went back to Afterburner. Was referring to the ASUS tools .
I use the Asus AI-Suite-II for certain different things, but also for changing some OC-Profiles on the fly. My Base-CPU-OC @4200MHz plus tightened RAM-Timings is done via BIOS, but my actual Max-CPU-OC @4700MHz is done via the Asus-Suite, but with my own Settings, like further increased VCore etc. . When I play less demanding Games like Diablo-III: Reaper of Souls my Base-OC is good enough, but for Games like Battlefield-4 etc. or Benchmarks I use my Max-OC. It's pretty handy to do it on the fly, as my rig is running 24/7. I also use a certain GPU-OC-Profile, which allows me to further OC my Super-OC'ed GTX680's by simple starting the Guru-App, which has my max GPU-OC set as default. Will give Afterburner another go, after I did my upgrade. Start8 seems to be ok, but I'm not sure about WindowsBlinds.
someone found the oem server I used *quietly* and uploaded w00t.php and w00t.txt or something so they locked the server up tighter than a drum. GJ w00t boy hope you are proud of yourself, whoever you are! lol
WZor's leak of W8.1+Bing was 9600.17029, which is very close to RTM 17031, wonder if you could simply add the MSU's to make it up-to-date.
