Gives me a blank text file.

    Na, no previous KB2919355, but I did do Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase a few times.

I think the msu file is going around uninstalling previous updates and when it runs into updates that have been /resetbase'd it has problems.

Hmm. Is there anything that can be done aside from a fresh 8.1 install updated without /resetbase?

Ensure that all the Rollups below are installed (Windows Update --> View Update History --> Installed Updates then under Program, go down to Microsoft Windows) before proceeding:
    - Rollup A (KB2883200)
    - Rollup B (KB2884846)
    - November Rollup (KB2887595)
    - December Rollup (KB2903939)
    - January14 Rollup (KB2911106)
    Then KB2919442.
You also need to reboot before attempting KB2919355; it should work.

Resetbased updates shouldn't give problems unless it was a pre-release version of this particular update.
Afterall the GA release is nothing more an RTM version with updates integrated and then resetbased, and that doesn't give problems either...

Also resetbased updates don't cause problems for other updates, even if the new updates patch the same components as older ones which have been resetbased. And the update 1 is basically just a regular update, except that it's a really big one.

    try :D
    Code:
    findstr /c:", error" %windir%\Logs\DISM\DISM.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\Errors.txt
and as last, check Event Viewer

Yep. You can wait for the updates to show up in Windows Update in April.

After the installer running for over an hour, I decided to re-start my machine...on boot-up it said that it was configuring updates. Once re-started, I now have the following showing:-

    vgdk.png

    So I presume it's worked??

    Thanks in advance

I agree that it *shouldn't* I'm just pointing out that this one seems to.
Perhaps that's the real reason MS pulled it from the downloads...

I am sorry if this has been asked before but I am in a hurry as I am accessing MDL from my work and MDL is blocked here. I was wondering what exactly do these "Feature Packs" add?

We're not exactly sure. The only thing I've personally noticed is that it allows pinning apps to your taskbar (and probably desktop, I dunno)
If you integrate it on an offline image, when you fire it up it will automatically boot to desktop if you don't have a touchscreen.
Other than those two things, *shrug*

Do i need all 6 + 4 updates for this version? Or only those 4 new Update 1?

Regardless of the "Feature Pack" description, they are regular updates to improve user experience and fix some internal issues
