I should darn well hope it would...! But really--you ought to take a look at Classic Shell 4.0.4. It's gratis, and this version is very nice, imo--the guy's done a lot of nice work. Runs fine with the 8.1 update '031--I'd surely give it a whirl before paying for something. As an aside, I would imagine Microsoft is, or hopefully should be, very embarrassed to have all of these third parties doing nice start menus since the company has apparently forgotten how. Don't know about any of the other start menus, but Classic Shell (the Start Menu is the only function in the program I use) lets you shut down *all* desktop hotspots and kill the charms if you want (I want), while still allowing me to keep the "start page" via the Windows key (but you can kill that, too, if you want.) Great little proggy. I keep the start page around though because every once in awhile I enjoy being reminded as to precisely why it is that I loathe touch UI's like Metro to the extent that I do. Metro is so incredibly ugly and juvenile (3rd-graders finger painting?) that some people actually think it is attractive... Go figure... Ugh.
Thanks to all who posted all the info! Just took about an hour to install all the updates on my new gateway ne 522 laptop. Anyone else notice the new store icon on the desktop taskbar? lol. I'm still looking around.
Yeah, you are right, I don't think properly tonight. The correct to say is that it will not fit on a 4GB USB stick. MSMG Toolkit created a 3.83 GB (4,119,414,784 bytes) ISO file, I guess because I selected to apply updates to index 1 only while abbodi's script updates index 2 too. So might use MSMG ISO or use a 8GB USB stick.
Guys, just a quick question: I am not able to install the 355 update. I've noticed my windows version is .16518, can this be the reason?
Well now, there's a familiar face Welcome to MDL... totally agree.. BTW the core code has been "ripped" from Windows 7 thus as per classsic shell should be free anyway
@armond I've tried that but it doesn't seems to work for an offline image These commands specifically: Dism /Image:C:\test\offline /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup Dism /Image:C:\test\offline /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase I think the article maybe incorrect, coz google searching i've found very little to no threads discussing these commands
I downloaded the .rar file from the given (Mega) x86 link yesterday around 6 pm, at that time it was showing 332MB (and I downloaded it), whereas now its size has increased to 370 MB. (how?) Also, the files I extracted from the .rar file have entirely different size and are not running at all on my system whereas when I downloaded from the individual links from your blog, they seem to be working just fine, except for the 3rd link (the main one!).
Incorrect command? Even at TechNet site? LOL! I think I should spend more time on that. A slightly different command Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase works if ran on an running Windows 8.1 system. Thanks for your time and for your testings anyway.

Hello, i'm trying to install the update but when i click on "Windows8.1-KB2919355-x86" i got this error massage the installation is on a clean install of windows 8.1 and all the updates are installed .
Get a tool like hashtab and compare the file hash properties. Make sure you have the complete file. Some file transfer servers sometimes end files early.
If you ever get an error message, its always best to just google it as there is a 99.9% chance you will find your answer of your problem that way
I keep getting "The following updates failed to install kb2919355" i did 42 and 87 in order and rebooted after each one. Anyone have any ideas?
