yeah man some isht gone wrong , i couldnt access my D drive after install of the so called update on one of my machines lol. Did you upgrade 8 to 8.1 by any chance, or is your 8.1 a fresh insall? just asking!
That's a Windows explorer bug , it happens in my PC also....the Windows explorer in 8.1 has bugs,it randomly crashes & now with 8.1 update 1 an additional freezing bug has been added These sort of things never happened on Windows 7 or Windows 8 & Microsoft also removed the ability to edit metadata in the Windows 8.1 explorer.....it's really a step backwards & managing a huge mp3 collection becomes really tough. You should check out the Windows phone app for desktop & the Windows phone metro app.....the desktop app is so much crippled in functionality that it is unusable...whereas the metro app has more features & is somewhat usable... It's like they are crippling the desktop apps on purpose...just to make people start using the metro apps
Even with Windows 8.1 Update 1, the ability to edit tag and metadata is still broken. I think it won't be fixed until Windows 10.
I too never have that happened. Windows Explorer bugs like that are rare. I suggest a clean format and install of Windows 8.1 before you apply Update 1. As for the keyboard, I too noticed the same problem after applying Update 1. It turns out Filter Keys was On. Go to Control Panel -> Ease of Access Center to turn it off. In fact, I suggest to turn all options off. I hope that fixes your keyboard problem.
yes read it actually am here many days after so many things happend here.. because i dont know about spring update .when this get to publicly?
Oh the mp3 metadata thing was intentionally disabled?! I thought it was broken on my side because I installed a propertyhandler for flac files... Glad to hear it's not really broken then, so may I suggest you: Mp3Tag, a free application to manage metadata on a a lot of common audio formats (except for wav as the wav specs officially don't support tags I think). You can search for an mp3 property handler, this might not enable the editing of tags when you go to the file props, but at least you have the columns in explorer back. As you may suspect already, you can install prop handlers for every kind of file (if there is any) to view extra info in explorer.
Have to run a memory test then can faulty RAM cause explorer unstability?? I did not face problem with any other software...it's only Windows explorer that keeps crashing
Well for me, all other PC's/WinToGo have been updated and no problem. Gonna wait till pub release for my main PC/KMS Host PC just to be sure. On the others, I have had no errors what so ever. Everything went smoothly, BTW, I think the 442 update that we had here was different then the 442 that came out on WU last tuesday. I am saying this because I installed our 442 update then did a WU and it also installed 442 again which if I remember, should not happen unless they are 2 different versions. Did anyone else face this as well?
Ok just did a hash and md5 check on both and they are in fact the same. So my question is, why would my PC allow it to be installed twice?
If you switch languages, sometimes it needs to install the kb file again to patch the newer version of the localized file. Did you do that?
