well the patch worked but it breaks up the audio, you need to restart the machine to make the audio get back to work I tested the manual hack on Win 8.1 x64
Agreed, hopefully this can be fixed! I found that restarting the Windows Audio service can help avoid a restart. I typically RDP in to use Spotify etc (playing on host), and then any subsequent usage of the console session has no audio, but playback does not produce a sound device error, it's just silent. so we might need a metro shortcut to stop AudioSrv and start it again...

It is a shame it yet doesn't work like on Windows 7. I hope someone manage to get this sorted. If I knew how to help I would do something to make this work.
