Protected Storage Service missing in Win8 The protected storage service is missing from Windows 8. This service is required to run Acronis Backup and Recovery, older version of Outlook, and a host of other applications.
How can we turn off the silly wcp-dual-boot-menu? Its f*cking ridiculous that for booting W7 i first have to boot into WCP Boot menu, choose W7, restart the whole god damn thing, before W7 can boot. And the same thing if i shut down the machine, even from W7. Hate it..
Well, which one do you want? You can set it up so the default is Windows 8 or the default is Windows 7. Or, depending on how you installed you can go into bcdedit and modify the boot loader information so there is only one option and it will always boot into Windows 8 and to get into Windows 7 you will have to press F8 (or whatever it is on your computer) to get the boot menu and then choose there, but as long as you want two operating systems on the same machine you have to choose somewhere.
Haha thats cool: I just noticed that when you open the Charms menu with keyboard (Win + C) the Windows logo is animated not only with color but also small 3D rotation.
Anyone looking to quickly access the start shutdown options, then click on the taskbar, and then press alt+f4. You will then be presented with the power options dialog box.
What I found is it is best to have Win7 as default with the old boot loader that way if you choose to load Win8 it continues to boot or likewise to Win7. No restart or reboot like with Win8 as default.
Is there a way to map keys in Win 8, I have a bluetooth keyboard but it doesnt have windows key (super key)
I want the boot menu that ex. comes when installing Ubuntu and Windows 7 only. The standard "bios"-one
The solution to this problem can vary depending on which OS you installed first, are you using a GPT or MBR disk for either Win7 or Win8, Do you have a UEFI BIOS on your computer, etc. So lets start at the beginning. The standard "bios" one is the menu you get when you press a special key during boot up and get presented with a list of bootable devices to start from. On ASUS motherboards the key is F8. What brand of motherboard do you have? Do you know what key to press to get the Boot Menu (the standard BIOS one)?
On my eeepc 901, it works fine on the first boot so I would say that the driver for your touchpad is missing (?). (Even the 3 fingers/right-click is working out of the box).
