I downloaded WCP , used it for 2 days only and switched back to windows 7.
I actually liked windows 8 but that metro screen is unbearable to me.
I hope in final Win8, MS will provide an option to say goodbye to metro during install or through control panel and not force users to use that @!~%&x* metro

I concur. Total waste of time. Don't expect ms to do away with metro in win8....we'll have to wait for win9 for that.:wallbash:

First, I uninstalled the old Nvidia drivers, then extracted the .cab with WinRar, and opened the device manager, found "display adapters." Double click the video adapter, selected the driver tab, then click "update driver." You then navigate to the directory where the extracted cab is located, and Windows will do the rest.

Does anyone know the trick to restarting a remote W8 machine with RDP? (Using shutdown /r doesn't count.) In Win7's RDP, you could access the Start orb, click "Windows Security," and then access a red button that gave you a couple choices, among them Restart. It's apparently a little more subtle now, as if that wasn't subtle enough. It's not in the Charms area on the right -- that would be too obvious -- only Disconnect is there.

    More than likely.

Time marches on ... for some ...

Others will be dragged kicking and screaming, apparently.

I'd say pretty unlikely. The Desktop has too much momentum. Plus, remember, the DOS BOX(!) "app" is still around, and that earliest of all MS UI's predates even Windows 95.

    Yeah - still it's a 1995 implementation.
Sure it is, and it's nothing like the old DOS4,5,6,7 or 8 DOS box.
Windows no longer runs on DOS. DOS runs on Windows.
Like I said, some will be dragged kicking and screaming into the future.

Windows 8 will not become the "future" just because MS hopes it will. Just like XP is still the "present" for about 50% of the world's computing population even though MS wanted it to become the "past".
