They can't be doing it right if it is, since Windows 10 is a free update as is Redstone to Windows 10. The only money grabbing thing about it is the streamlining of resources for mainstream support, but that's more related to money rationalisation than money grabbing. It's still surprising that people are complaining about receiving a free update from Windows 7 and 8.1. If you want to be stubborn and stay on Windows 7, by all means go ahead, but don't complain when things don't work your way down the track!
Windows 8, fixed with 8.1, fixed again with 8.1 Update 1 (and 3), fixed again with Windows 10 (8.2 project), fixed again with Redstone. At least, they were clear about Redstone: some of features that MS would like to integrate are not ready yet. I really think that this new Windows 10 wasn't originally planned for 2015 but for 2016 or later but has been actually started with the big will of "convincing" Windows 7 users to upgrade and have an access to the Modern Apps, Microsoft Live Accounts and telemetries, because Windows 8 and its updates did not enough convince (and were commercially bad) to fulfill this mission. MS really want that all his users have access to Apps and Live Account and its Cloud. By releasing more and more updates, that slowly makes of Windows 7 a dinosaur. But, I prefer this than an overly patched system. Upgrading is a good reason to refresh the computer and Windows 10 is a good opportunity for MS to clean binaries (as they said) of their OS. Even with XP and Windows 7, when MS released a new Service Pack, I prefered to reinstall Windows from an updated ISO. And finally, it's obvious that Redstone is free for Windows 10 users (and indirectly for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users).
guy im not complaining....oh of course i just remember MS is in the business of giving away free thing....thats how they made billions and gates is the riche$$ man in the world according to Forbes magazine.
What did Windows 8.1 "Update 3" exactly do? We didn't even get an Update 2, as that one got canceled in favor of Windows 10 (which isn't even close to a "8.2". Let alone Update 3. No. We can make a bet on it: Microsoft has yet to release a Windows version that contains the features they planned it to have. Every Windows release shipped with something Microsoft wanted to put in the previous one. Windows 8 probably contained features that Microsoft liked for Windows 7. Windows 10 probably contains features Microsoft planned for Windows 8.1. Windows XP probably contains features Microsoft planned for Windows Me/2000. It's bussiness as ussual with Redstone.
i agree they to always seen to be playing catch up.....now in MS defense from win 95 to 7 the hardware at the time was not the best.....but now that hardware gets better and better every year, is time they step up and release a quality OS.
What's next? Windows Minecraft? Though this name gives me hope somehow! Red Stone = Windows Vista Ultimate Extras... Well you know.. if they dont add Aero here, it will be in the "Red Stone" Update for sure...
The problem microsoft has always faced unlike Apple or the many makers of Linux is that windows has to be everything to everybody so under those rules it's hard to make anything fast and furious like we would all like to see. That's the problem when your stuff is running on a billion PCs around the world.
To be fair MS it's like the Star Trek movies. Odd versions are beta/crap, even ones are good/better, now they managed to break the rule skipping Win9 (star trek did it too rebooting the series). Win 95 relase was crap, Win 95 osr2 was way better Win 98 was crap, Win 98se was good Win ME was super crap, no successor here Win2k was the beta of XP Vista was the beta of Seven 8 was the beta of 9 (now 10) And so on...
I feel like there is a lot missing here because registry and xml tricks should be able to fill in more of the builds list wise. Buildfeed isn't the only guy who likes the registry lol. This is more interesting guys: <Range minSPVersion="0.0" maxVersion="6.4.9999.*" minVersion="6.3.9651.*" name="threshold"/> <Range minSPVersion="0.0" maxVersion="10.0.65536.*" minVersion="10.0.9868.*" name="win10"/> Threshold was the post Windows 8.1 builds (6.3.9600) up to when they decided to switch to Windows 10 instead of Windows 9. Then we flip forward to Windows 10 where they went for what you see above. This is the upgrade matrix so it is very definitive. That means we have lots of build jumps ahead of us.
Umm....I guess, Msft will add stuff, which they can/will not add now in W10. (As W10 will set to RTM in summer) -Improved version of Aero Glass ---> Transparency with Blur (Like Yosemite) -Interactive Live tiles -Metro tiles on desktop (Like W7 gadgets)
