Thanks for the links but there it says: don't install it (with latest CU) on real hardware you care about, it'll apply a CiPolicy (locked via BS-only UEFI NVRAM var), so you won't be able to boot anything else with secure boot enabled. the latest CU also will automatically encrypt C: with bitlocker, with VMK sealed by TPM only, no recovery key.
Even though I was still curious and wanted to download it even though I was suspicious about the file name. Luckily you have confirmed it. LOL
ah, what kind of info is this, I've already downloaded it. just suspicious why the file size is not the same.
Installed it, getting a "your Organization used Device Guard to block this app - contact your support person for more info" error
I wonder how much RAM and disk space it would take up, and whether it would be suitable as a platform for running X86 software in a virtual machine? It would be great if it was some kind of lightweight Windows.
I am working on doing something like that, if only there is a way to disable code integrity. I know that win8 had some patched files to remove a timebomb, if we can somehow find the patches to disable ci, anad dse maybe I can work on it.
You need to install it in Legacy mode with only a SINGLE partition to kick it into "unlocked mode" and also prevents automatic Bitlocker encrypting the disk. WinXShell does not work, in fact, nothing works (except for the browsers) until you supply files from either a full install or a WinPE of the same build.
Appreciate the update! With the files from winpe, just copy the windows folder with the one from wincnc? Curious if this trick would also work for Pippro
What you do is copy the Windows folder from WinPE OVER to WinCNC (no overwriting). PPIPro is different. It's a full desktop SKU that has been specifically modified to run the Surface Hub shell. You can get Explorer running on it, but it's very tricky.
