DISCUSSION: Windows Server 2016 14393 (1607)

similar codebase of win 10 but still no definitive answer or roadmap for server 2016 other than rumors that server 2016 will not get creators update but instead will get fall update

 

I thought server was suppose to not get feature updates and only security updates? I thought it wasn't considered a modern life cycle update?

Edit 3/24/17: nevermind now on W10 RS2, classic calc works thanks to MSMG, and dedup works thanks to moderate!!!

by server update in the fall i meant redstone 3 as cu's will always come out for insiders and current when available or every patch tuesday monthly; server 2016 just won't get a new creators edition build like win 10 but will still get the patches and cu's

 

so windows server 2016 standard isn't going to get any feature update, and will only get monthly patches and security updates right?

 

yes at minimum unless a surprising announcement comes out and there is a redstone 2 for server 2016

Agreed. Very stupid mistake by some stupid programmers at MS.

 

But does no Creators Update mean that we wont be see something like Windows Server 2016 R2 or something. Aka new ISO's running on 1703 that users have to manually upgrade or do a re-install? It's obvious that Microsoft should not update Windows Server like they update Windows 10. Having large updates changing a lot of code that might cause compatibility issues pushed as a Windows Update for Windows Server 2016 would be silly. But why would Microsoft leave their Server SKU's behind when the codebase for Windows 10 and Windows Server is very similar?

Thanks, LostED. Your link leads to a full-blown 9718492 iso and rar files. I've downloaded the 14393.0.161119-1705.RS1_REFRESH_SERVER_EVAL_X64FRE_EN-US_4.ISO from MSDN was hoping to do a quick, painless svfx upgrade. Thanks for the help.

Edit: Gezoesloog's link doesn't have the svf I'm after either.

Edit2: I think I'll just slipstream the latest CU then.

Which Version do you use ?

Eval Iso or MSDN Iso? I think MSDN Iso, but where is the different between both?

When i open the link i can use the Versions of Win16. What means cn_windows_server_2016_x64_dvd_9718765.iso. Is this CN the language ? Can i Change the language into German?
