not a zorin guy at all... however, when i see the umpteenth youtube video drowning in marketing-based superlatives, i get very suspicious....it sounds very much like a promo-thing for EOL windose...

BigLinux has been around for around 20yrs from what I have gleaned, a very similar concept to Zorin, truly free and may actually predate Zorin, if you want a Windows clone surely its worth a try? If I start from scratch and wipe my HDD I always try a few old and new distros before I reinstall Mint [its always the best lol]

For clarity; I am already a long term user of Zorin & am perfectly happy with the "core" version which is COMPLETELY free.

I researched "Brazilian BigLinux" for myself which I always recommend (research) above listening to biased opinions from an anonymous crowd. There is zero comparison between "Big" & Zorin. For every reason I have for liking Zorin is the exact same reason for not preferring "Big". Anyone wishing to avoid the headaches caused by wiping disks & discovering the origin story behind each as well as update structure & hardware reliability do a search on "BigLinux OS reviews 2025" & even "BigLinux OS vs Zorin OS".

Do your own research through reliable sources. NOT 2 or 3 voices in a chat room or forum. Then choose & use the one "you" prefer. There is a reason they both exist. Check out their wiki pages.

hm. own research is priceless, needless to say...
    but.
life is short enough as it is..
    so.
if i know that a guy who is not a gen.z-dauber says it is a waste of time,
i take his word for it. unseen, if needed.
also, i can rely on my own judgment. took me long enough to develop.
and if i see a load of bs marketing superlatives, in youtube especially,
i shun it. unseen, if needed.
you may be a happy long-time user, but that does not guarantee i will fall
into that category too.. [ one man’s meat is another man’s poison, as they say...]

with all due respect; just 2 cents from a biased, anonymous walrus.

A very solid choice for anyone coming from Windows. It is my second choice though I might go with the Cinnamon version simply for the aesthetics. Great solid support & improved versatility with every release. In comparison reviews with Zorin they end in virtual ties. They are great choices as daily drivers for every day computing tasks & have extremely reliable ease of use reputations straight out of the box.

There is no real reason not to use Win10 for your gaming as M$ & MDL continues to support the security updates. Linux support for gaming continues to make advances by leaps & bounds as gaming & GPU makers increase their support for Linux users. Drivers for proprietary commercial GPUs are also being made available for Linux users. The Linux world is expanding quickly & M$ should take notice. Win11 is driving users away by the 10's of thousands.

With EOL/EOS for many 10 year plus M$ OSes this forum is now coming into its own plus the Ubuntu/Linux distros maturity have reached a usability level never seen before. Everything rounding into form at same time. Answer to a many of Win11 update nightmares. ;>))

Zorin is not my cup of tea but the basic version is free and you can add just about everything else with a bit of effort. Apparently Zorin is really taking off as a result of the recent Windows 11 s**t show.

EXACTLY. There are many solid OSes to choose from. Just because one person does not like something does not mean 2,000,000 others won't find it fascinating & useful. Been using Zorin as my secondary OS for 3 years now (FREE version) & will be converting it to my primary when I dump Win7 for good.
