I have a question about dism++ Back when I had 1511 windows installed I have created bootable USB out of it and used dism++ to make back up bootable install.wim out of online system then I placed install.wim in sources of my boot ale usb drive and whenever had issues I could format c and reinstall copy of my current os as I have set. Later on I have upgraded to 1607 and tried to do something similar I mean back up online image create install.wim using dism++ and place it on my bootable USB in sources. The thing is that after I format c and try to install from USB installation is complaining about missing Windows license something like "windows can't find Microsoft license" something so I can't install my backup. Any ideas? Thanks
I have not really looked into backup and restore via this method but I do have a bit of experience creating custom install images. If you create an unattended setup file you can include your key. Perhaps that will get you around this issue.
Your answer is no answer. I want to create image backup of my online installation. Put it on the stick and whenever issues I can just install it from the stick and will get freshly installed windows as I myself prepared it. Means 1. I create bootable USB from Windows iso 2. I create backup.wim with dism++ of my online system 3. I rename backup.wim to install.wim and move it to sources on my bootable USB 4. I can install Windows from that bootable USB And after boot I will have exact copy of my system as I left it at the moment when I made backup. Earlier when I was using Windows 1511 I could do that easily since 1607 when I boot from USB and trying to install Windows is complaining about Microsoft license missing something and not sure how to fix it.
Between 3 and 4 is where you add the untended file. Adding the unattended file lets you integrate your key into your install on your flash drive. You would literally do every single step you are already doing. The only change is adding an unattended file that includes your key. If you don't want to try it, don't try it.
I don't need unattended file I didn't need it when I was doing the same thing with 1511 As there's in sources on USB is ei.cfg file and in it edition Id channel vl And pid file and in it product key If i replace wim file created by dism++ with the original one created by msmg toolkit I have no problem installing windows why? The issue is when I replace install.wim on my bootable USB created by msmg toolkit with the one created by dism++ out of my online system. Greetings
I have found bug in dism++ For some reason whatever reason it is, if Windows store get cor'rupted dism in cmd will show store corruption but when I scan health with dism++ it will say no store corruption
Plus for the last two days I'm trying to work out what is co'rrup'ting my windows store as after msmg treatment I have deleted loads of stuff from an online image plus using dism++ to clean online image even more and I think dism++ is co'rrup'ting my store some option I'm pressing changing in it or god knows. It ain't dism++ co'rrup'ting my store something else haven't found yet what it is. Maybe script which I use to restart ics as it is broken and Microsoft havent fixed it yet. 1607 is most definitely the last Windows ver I'm using. After this junk I'm installing Ubuntu and will never go back to Windows.
OK, here's what I found, after creating backup.wim out of online image and changing its name to install.wim and placing on bootable USB in sources Windows won't install will complain about missing licence terms. But if I install Windows from original iso I then can use dism++ to restore my backup.wim and it does work against 1607 And there's bug not sure if always but sometimes when store was corrupted dism in cmd reported it and dism++ was saying there's no corruption. That's all now finally I'm happy, installed barebones windows 1607 tweaked to my liking and backup in case it got flecked up. Ahh it took me only 2 weeks to make 1607 the way I want.
Why you need an old version of Dism++? I don't know. Old versions are buggy, not supported by Chuyu Team and less features. Mouri
