Now, with DISMTools 0.5, you can add Encrypted AppX (.eappx, .eappxbundle, .emsix, .emsixbundle) packages to active installations. This requires running a PowerShell command. Here is an example: Addition process Application information You'll see this in a nightly installer shortly, and this function will be improved in the future
An important message if you're using Windows Defender - you may see this utility flagged as malware: This is a false positive, and you shouldn't be worried about it. This is another case of Microsoft flagging open-source projects. Simply allow the "risk" to continue using this program
A new feature in DISMTools 0.5 is the ability to get image file information and save complete image information from within the mounted image manager: Context menu Getting image file information Saving image information
This process is very similar to the one I had shown in the video. The only thing that changes is that you need to enter a partition number and drive letter. Setup takes care of the rest
I downloaded the 0.5 preview, went to load it, then found it targets (iirc) .NET 4.5. VS2022, what my workstation uses, only lets you go down to 4.5.2 (also out of life cycle), so after it forced me to upgrade to 4.8 or refuse to load, I tried to set 4.5.2 and after some minor changes got it to build fine enough. However there is some ScintillaNET exception thrown. Looked for updated packages but it seems development of that died years ago. I know Notepad++ released a build that allowed the CIA or NSA to infiltrate computers easy, from outdated Scintilla. But that might be a different thing with the same name? I don't see much of a difference in the supported OSs from 4.5 to 4.5.2. Looks like Vista is bumped up to Vista SP2, and even 4.5 isn't officially for XP. The number of Windows users using 8.1 and under, excluding 7, are about 1-1.5% of all users. 7 still has around 3%, and can do 4.6.2. So I'm guessing it's a dependency thing. There no replacement for ScintillaNET? If it's a vital part of the UI there's optionally Krypton and Xceed. In any event, I will be excluded from providing much in the way of direct contributions. Wont be able to test preview builds or make certainly non-redundant suggestions without pre-releases for download.
The Scintilla.NET component has been successfully updated to the latest version, which was released just over an hour ago
I tried to customize Win 11 24H2 (26100.268) by removing components from install.wim. I saved install.wim from iso into the same folder as DISMtools. When I tried to 'Remove package' from image, the cmd windows pops up and says that they remove components, and some progress is made, yet when after removing all components I come back to 'Remove package' menu, they are still there. I tried removing pkgs, waited for cmd's to disappear and then immediately used 'Commit and unmount image'. But when I loaded it again, the packages are still there. The image is unlocked and have read and write permissions and I'm running DISMTools as admin. Is it something I do wrong or it's because Win11 24H2 is not supported yet? Thanks.
