Download SLIC dump toolkit and go to the SLP 1.0 section. Here u see ur SLP string and in the second pane, u can see the list of valid SLP strings.

Exit from DOS by pressing 4, then type

Well, u should run SLIC dump toolkit under windows and then write down the valid SLP strings anywhere. Then run and boot from the DMI editing disc and insert any of the SLP string [except Dell].....

Then u should edit the bios yourselves, but remember that it is very risky.....

BTW in my region, the time is 11.16 PM (night)... :p

    Quick question...
Have a friends Shuttle PC at home for a new power supply (not a retail repair at the shop because we don't fool around w/keys & activations there)- seems he has XP-Pro VLK with updates turned off for WGA protection. I'd like to convert him from VLK to OEM using the OEM BOIS Changer so he can get updates again without WGA blocking. So, I suspect I should tatoo the DMI area first with this boot CD then run the VLK to OEM BIOS Changer- does this sound correct?
    Thanks....

Run the OEMBIOS.EXE first. He may have shuttle SLP in already..probably upgraded the XP home that came with the machine to pro and didnt know how to use OEMBIOS files for slp activation.

    -just a guess..

Didn't even consider that Shuttle may have their info in the BIOS already, that would be too easy!
I'll try the OEMBIOS.EXE and see what it finds..... thanks :p

Thanks for the advice, but how do I run this OEMBIOS tool (v1.1)

Unzipped it > then rename it to OEMBIOSv11_269_106.exe > and run it under Windows DOS?

Already run the tool (oembios.exe) and found 4 SLP strings, decided to use the first one: Asus CRC=2411858C.
As I want to have a fresh installation and have a WINDOWS.XP.PRO.SP3.32-BIT.(X86).HP.PAVILION.OEM.iso file.
What I have to do is to download the compressed ASUS (OEMBIOS.CAT CRC32=2411858C) and replace the HP OEMBIOS files in the folder 1386.
Then burn the iso to CD and start the installation? Please let me know whether this method is right? My hearty thanks for all your help....

Yes, that is it (but better is to do the CD yourself from UNTOUCHED MSDN retail disk, you do NOT know what is (could be) in WINDOWS.XP.PRO.SP3.32-BIT.(X86).HP.PAVILION.OEM.iso
