that will work ok but you will probably need to change the windows xp Key in Winnt.sif file in i386 folder also i don't know if OEM logos are on the HP cd you may asko need to change them to asus.
Yes I did change xp key in Winnt.sif and successfully installed XP Asus OEM, Windows activated. Thanks again for all your valuable advise...
Tatto for the Award-BIOS Hi 911medic, I did use it for as I press 1 it unable to see SLP STRING for my BIOS (Award-BIOS) then I try to "tattoo" by press 2 it state FAIL for the PC? As My MB is BIOSTAR P4M900-M7 FE as this is 2nd COM. EDIT: Sorry... I had found it... the CRC at 1 after tattoo for the HP...
So what options exist when you cannot change the tag on the BOIS? I have a Celestix Scorpio MB (Award/AMI bios but looks to be heavily customized hardware by Celestix). I tried running this CD and it gives DMI errors. Tried manually doing it, same thing. When I try to query the board I get nothing back (SLP string is blank for all entries). Tried running CrystalDMI.exe off the CD and i get "Not Found SMBIOS\DMI Information..." Assuming I'm out of luck?
No, they have nothing available on their site. They make firewall appliances and they charge for support. It was out of support because the drive died and they wouldn't even let me have a copy of some drivers for it. All I can say is its a 865G Intel board, the BIOS lists as Phoenix - AwardBIOS - Celestix Scorpio II version 1.1 April 27, 2005.
Its likely an Award bios, should be simple to tattoo, It is probably just intel chipset and not intel manufacturer...make sense?? At any rate, use the tattoo disk, usb tool, or just use the award bios tool to add SLP 1.0 for XP and/or SLP 2.0(1) for Vista/Windows7. This should not be an issue at all...Just a hunch.
No, no command will let me write to the BOIS nor can I pull anything out. It's like its crippled for there purpose. I understand the intel chipset/manufacture thing and that's exactly what it is...it's a very specialized board (has a sweet 2 line LCD attached to it which of course I now don't have drivers for...which sucks because it will display temperatures, IP address info, etc when the OS is running). I'll try the pflash stuff from the 3rd or 4th post and if that doesn't work the current WPA crack is working ok. Thanks for the replies.
I can't access link #1. It say "Clearance: This server will only accept inbound connections from forums.mydigitallife.net. All other requests will result in this message." I downloaded from link #2 and it does not have dmicfg nor dmi executables.
click on first link do not copy it, also dmicfg nor dmi executables are there you just can't see them because they are in the boot sector for the cd either boot form the cd and you will get acess to the files or extract boot the boot file with ultraiso once you have extracted it load it back into ultraiso and extract the contents to a folder.
Thanks for the reply. I did click it directly. The link OEMBIOS Changer works fine and it's going to roughly the same URL except the final subdirectory. I am confused by post #1 where it says "The second one does not contain the dmicfg.exe.." just before the attached thumbnails.
dv6911us -help ok i hope someone can help me here... iv been working on my hp dv6911us for a week now and still failed to get it back the way it used to be. heres my dilema, aweek ago my system crashed resulting to brick my hdd and wiping all HP info on the bios. i got a new hdd but it wont let me run my restore disk. bios show no s/n nor UUID. and as i read thru hp dmi utility i just need to key those in using their tattoo utility but for some reason i cant run the tool. this is my first time to work with bios and to make a bootdisk iv tried everytime i read on the net but i still cant get it to run. i dont know iv read the whole thread and alot more related to my issue but i think my brain is just to fried now to absorb anything. im hoping 911medic, urie or anyone out there who know how i can fixed this help me out. a step by step of what to do maybe. i know mine is phoenix but i just cant figure out what to do really. all im wanting to do is run my restore disk-vista.
I can't believe your dmi information has been trashed try running OEMBIOS.exe to see if HP DMI string is still present.
Probably best to use the PHLASH16 to put the DMI info back. You can do this with flash switches... These in red are the parameters you need to focus on..
