I understand that. I used oa2intel+Dell for slp2 and works great. I was looking at adding the missing slp1. The first thread with d/l said it would probably work for dell too. Searching for the dell xp string I found yours that said dell uses different addr, where this does not work. This tells me for slp1/dmi I will use HP. Do I need to use oa2intel to replace the SLIC to match? Or can I have SLP1 HP AND SLP/SLIC2.1 Dell in same bios?
Thank you IntelĀ® Desktop Board DP45SG File name: SG0125.BIO Version: 0125 Download: hxxp://downloadmirror.intel.com/18636/eng/SG0125.BIO Date: 01/21/2010 Status: Latest Size: 12 MB Language: English
I used oa2intel package in DOS mode (asus slic inserted). Win7 activated. Worked on all Intel boards with 41 - 45 chipset. Read instruction first attentively.
Greeting, I ran into problem DMIng an ECS 945GCT-M board. The tatooing was successful but when i check with oembios tool, the "Hewlett-Packet" string was no where to be found as you can see in the results below. Using the DMI tool, I can see the inserted SLP string, but it seems to be at a difference memory range. Before starting with the 945GCT-M board, I spent a fair amount of time on this forum (found this forum by stumple upon it) to gathered the info and was successfully activate WHS v1 on a diffirent ECS board, also using DMI. I was very much lost and dont know what to do next. All the expert on this forum, please point me to the right direction. Thanks. Lines starting with E: are not reliably detected when running under Windows Press Enter! NOTE: since the board already has ECS, Hitachi and Lenovo slp, I cound not find the correct 2003 oembios to activate.
I suspect the Hitachi and Genuine matches are detected by other hardware, for example Intel 'Genuine' Processor and Hitachi HDD, CD/DVD Player Elitegroep, Legend, and Lenovo sets can not be used on Windows Server 2003 as these sets are for Windows XP only, no Windows Server 2003 sets exist for these brands. I sincerely doubt the 'Hewlett-Packet' DMI Tattoo was successful, maybe your system is not compatible with DMI tool, what bios it has? Award, AMI or Phoenix? Version? Did you add the Legend, Lenovo and Elitegroup SLP strings yourself or is this a bios mod?
The Lonovo Legend and ECS are factory..I downloaded the factory update and they are present. Unsure of why the DMI tool didnt work. You tried to add the SLP through mod tool? Can you dump a copy of the bios to see what did happen with dmi tool?? I can try to add manually also.
You could also try to add/verify the DMI entries using AMI's own tool, just Google: AMIDEDOS.exe or AMIDEWIN.exe
Already present on the CD. Exit HP TATTOO by entering 4 at prompt. either type DMI at prompt, or you can execute the AMIDEDOS. >DMI >AMIDEDOS or: dir will give you a list. The DMI is softthink DMI utility I believe. AMI utilities are certainly present. Use the second link if necessary.
Thank you FreeStyler and 911medic for come to the rescue. FreeStyler: The bios is AMI. I did use the DMI to insert the HP string. There is no indication of a failure. There is an option to check (i think it was opt1) the slp while in the DMI DOS screen. It shows up when I did the insert. It shows blank when I DMI /sm " ". This tells me that the DMI did its job but not in the correct address. "Did you add the Legend, Lenovo and Elitegroup SLP strings yourself or is this a bios mod?" No, the strings werethere from store bought day and I did not use the mod bios until all options were exhausted. Even then this was not helping the cause. 911medic: As much as I want to modify the bios to put the HP string myself, I do not fully understand the bios structure or the procedure to perform the operation. My hope is that a bios somewhere on net will have the string that I can flash and just move on to install whs. So far one I can find but it has the same string as original. "Can you dump a copy of the bios to see what did happen with dmi tool??" is this from the DMI opt1 as I had mentioned? I can get and post this info when I get home tonight. Dont understand why one ECS board works and fail on other. BTW, I have this subject post on another thread somewhere in this forum. I just mark that close and concentrate on this thread instead.
Will the AMIDEDOS allow me to do the deed? Not sure I understand what this tool can do but will play with it tonight. Update: re-read over FreeStyler post and see that AMIDEDOS can verify/add (my understanding) the string manually. Ohhh... I am excited now. Can wait to find out tonight. Also, can you give me the precise command to add the string? A quick internet search, I found this: AMIDEDOS.EXE /CA "string" Will this work? My only concern is no address specified.
The address need not be specified. It is in the manufacturer specified region. If you type help or ? after amidedos, you may get the commands . Otherwise I will look into it. A quick peek at the thumbs under the first post may give some insight.
urie, I have done exactly that to remove "Hewlett-Packard". It works fine. My only concern here is how can I insert the string in the correct address space. I still scratch my head on this one DMI automatic insert (or even manually) does not put in the correct address space- my guest at best.
use the other spaces as well. Or I will make you a bios if you need. try to use the other namespaces first. Chassis, baseboard, and system. this has always worked for me.. See list below edit: Guess I already uploaded you a bios in the previous thread...see that to flash SLP only..
911medic, Will try what you suggested tonight. Otherwise will have to take your offer of making me a bios YOu said already make a bios with the SLP? I dont recall seeing the link. I will report back with the result. Thanks.
I have couple of screen dumps for you > DMI /g and it gets me this (and I have to write these by hand): UUID = .....very long string of hex Type1 Location 27 is Hewlett-Packard <----Manufacturer /SM Type1 Location 43 is 945GCT-M <-----Product Name /SP Type1 Location 52 is 2.0 <------Version /SV Type1 Location 56 is 1131 <------serial /SS Type2 Location 15 is Intel Type2 Location 21 is 945GCT-M Type2 Location 30 is 2.0 Type2 Location 21 is To be Filled by O.E.M. Each time I do <DMI /SM:/SP or /BM:/BP>, it change in accordance of type 1 and 2. There are type 3 command (/CM:/CV:/CS:/CA) but there is not an option to pull the type 3 info. Anyhow, I change the manufacturer name for type1 and 2, still activation is needed and can not see the change in the SLIC dump. ... and then did the below: > AMIDEDOS /ALL NameR/WSTATUSInformation ---------------------------------------------------------------------- (/SM) System ManufactureRDone"Hewlett-Packard" (/SP) System ProductRDone"Hewlett" <--- change to 945GCT-M (/SV) System VersionRDone"2.0 <--- change to 1.0 (/SS) System Serial NumberRDone"1131" <--- change to 00000000 (/SU) System UUIDRDone"very long hex number" (/SK) System SKU NumberRDone"To be FIll" (/SF) System FamilyRDone"d by O.E.M." Proceed to change the following on test board: manufacture, version, serial number of all 3 types. Re-tatooing with HP and reboot, still activation is required. I was using the image made from "trial to OEM" disk and is has the OEMBIOS file from [HP 2003 CRC-D107C3EA.rar]. What to do next? The format of table above may distort when post. During edit everythings line up correctly. I apologize if it becomes a big blob.
