all information on how to manually add DMI string is on first page of this thread also look at the images posted. You need to boot again from HP dmi boot cd and when menu loads press 4 to exit to dos then type DMI /sm "" and press return that will add blank dmi string. But to be honest having the HP and Compaq dmi strings won't harm your computer.
is their any way or cmd's available when i am at dos, any other way to delete only the particular hp and compaq dmi strings, adding blank strings wont make my pc any better . But neither will having them their , or is their other gui tools that could do that........ Thank you urie for understanding......
Just do as I instructed that will overwrite the hp and compaq dmi strings it wont affect your original dmi strings because if it did it would have done it originally when you added hp and compaq dmi entries.
Hello urie i did as u told me , downloaded the Bootable CD but it wont boot anyfurther when it searches for Win98 something does some searching ......and prompt some messages and then it goes to reboot, i have no shell to give DMI /sm "" ...... I want to stress on your comment did you tried it yourself, or are you speaking out of Commonsense......what if it erase the original Elitegroup and Genuine Strings, my motherboard is G31T-M7 (Manufacturer: ECS):320GBWestern Digital HDD SATA.
I don't understand you have already run the HP dmitool so why is it not working now do you have sata hard drive if so the is sata version of iso available on first page there is also usb version also if you extract the HP_AMI_DMI.iso with say ultraiso there is tool called dmiedit it works in windows. Members on this forum have removed the hp and compaq dmi strings using the dos editor I have not used it on my machine I have Dell SLP string so no need to use it. You should talk to 911 medic he is more knowledgeable in DMI editing.
Does Flashing really help:remove the CRC Srings written. So where have you reached with your work. any progress.
Nope..havent had time..I may try just adding the SATA drivers to a win98 boot disc and add dmi programs to that..
@ Tito, usb version only gives options to tattoo HP you cannot exit to dos prompt. View attachment 12151
