there is no risk, the only one that can find that out is you. Download the boot cd and try it.

    Hey guys,

I have a BIOS that I cannot mod/flash and was recommended I use this to tatto the BIOS. Anyone know if theres a guide to explain how to use it and what exactly tatto'ing does? I know about flashing but never heard of this before. :)

Edit: Been reading a bit more.. am I right in thinking i'd just boot it up and type dmi /sm "BIOSLOCKFUNCTION ELITEGROUP" to add that oemslp tag to the BIOS, then it'd activate with the ECS OMEBIOS set?

    Thanks

Exactly.... that should do it ;)

PS, this in't really bios modding... DMI editing does not harm your bios like a real bios mod might do

Let me first tell you I'm a totall noob at this so.. forgive me if I sound stupid.

My goal here is running win xp pro without cr***s.

I have a P4T533 mobo (not the P4T533-c, found out that flashing that in there bricks a board)
Bios version 1007, but as I have read here that part is not interesting.

Running the DMI/sm tool results in a PNP error.
PnP is activated in the BIOS and DMI/P will even tell me that it is.

I tried using the disk and tried using it from an old HDD with DOS 6.22

Any guidence on how to proceed?

    I know 911medic modded the P4T533-C bios.
Trying andy's tool came up with an error too

Well thanks for all the previouse good tips and posts in this forum

ASUS_FLASH string is present in the bios update. These OEMBIOS files should activate XP...

The bios provided does not have" Hewlett-Packard" in the DMI area, it is in the mainbios instead..maybe this will help...

Sounds good. I will give the new BIOS a shot and will get back to you. I don't have the PC with me at the moment.

Well, I decided to download the newest BIOS from BIOSTAR and then mod it myself using the AWARD BIOS TOOL. Glad to say that it fixed the SLP issue, but it still is rebooting randomly, which I am pretty sure is bad memory. But, at least I learned how to mod my own BIOS. :)

    @jondilly1974

do not get to enthusiastic, adding SLP string has nothing to do with modding
Adding DMI string can be done without harming BIOS, this is done by inserting SLP string in areas of the bios which are specifically designed for that purpose
Adding a SLIC into a BIOS is much more adventerious as this actually might break your BIOS

Hi, im going to change a mobo on a dell computer where i have windows xp sp3, im going to use some Asus p4p800 with AMI BIOS, i have the original DELL cd with Windows XP OEM sp3 and i'd like to use that to install the OS, so i guess at this point the best way to go is to modify the bios on the asus p4p800 to insert the SLP1.0 and after reading some topics on this forum i realized this dmi boot cd is the best solution, im just a bit confused exactly how to use it, seeing that the instruction are mostly for HP OEM.

If i understand correctly i have to use the dmi command and manually insert the dell data but can you point me in the correct direction to see exactly what data i need to insert?

(i already modified some bios to install win7 oem on my computer so i have some experience on the matter).
