I have mixed feelings about this new Metro UI. Would I use on an Windows 8 Tablet. Sure, I would use it. On my desktop as power user, the answer is than very simple. It will never be. IMHO, Microsoft should build a detection in the setup of Windows 8 for touch screen monitors. If you have one, it then should give the user the option to select the new Metro UI. But there should also be an app on the Metro UI so that the user can switch between the two UI's, namely Metro or the Classic one. Another idea is to use in a split screen way if you have dual monitors in use. One monitor has the Metro, the other monitor can have the Classic. This would surely benefit alot of developers.
after finally figuring out what the hell was causing metro to no function. Beware the nividia HD,drivers for HDMI. I like it. it has it's place.
Windows 8 Microsoft's "Riskiest" Product idont like new start ,but we need new UI new fings very big risk i hope microsoft read our feedback good luck microsoft with win 8...
For me everything works in that metro, my laptop boots completely in 20 sec...BTW should be better if MS will let the choise to user....who's want classic start menu so be it...
I think the tastes is NOT DISCUSS! If I or someone else prefer Metro that is....If other person prefer Classic start menu so be it! Who can judge the man preferences....?
Like The more I learn how to use this new OS the better I like it. I found a neat way to access all my apps in metro on my pc.. the Windows Start Key and Q key on my keyboard, then click 'Apps', only clik it once though, two clicks will open some app that you probably don't want open. What I am finding is that I like some of old desktop style and some metro. I expect to find better uses as I go.
Found this on another forum, LOL As for the poll, I answered yes, taking a bit to get used to but I feel with some changes it will be better.
yep, Testers we are now. If their going to do this Metro thing, they need to make you the apps are rock solid. I found a few that are tied to servers that crap out on server connection , and thus crap out on the users. ie: Weather app. Twitter app. Stuff that peeps actually use.
I am a support technician and I have been having a hell of a fight with the fact that all my users want 2 or 3 monitors so they will have an app running on each of them. After dozens of talks it appears the casual user wants his apps full screen and even hates overlapping windows. I tried everything to teach them how to work with multiple windows, no one wants to use the task bar, changing focus using the mouse or even less alt-tab. Metro has kept the ability to swipe apps in and I find the result elegant. I have been using a pen tablet and mouse-keyboard... it works. maybe M$ are on to something... If my test group is any indication this is what the "people" want.
The MS will do the system better but is possible that the features used by us now will disappeaar or modifyed...(see usertile)i remember that Windows 7 ultimate who I downloaded on 14.07.2009 has a lot of buggs inside, that until official realese;so this is only a pre-realese software...as I read from MS they did not offer guaranties....
I "like" the new boot menu but "prefer" the old one since XP will show-up on it & I'm still using XP for some software testing.
I like the new interface, of course all my employees are being forced to work with it, as they will never get used to it until they have to use it. Edit: We run a software development firm, easier to write for if you have to use it.
