I have put Windows 8 on both my work laptop and work PC. Don't regret it at all. I'm getting a new gaming desktop later this week though, nothing special... 3.0Ghz DC Intel processor, 8gb ram, 1tb drive, ATI HD 6670 so I can play a few games I like. Does anybody have that graphics card?? Is it working well on Windows 8? Or should I just use 7?? My work machines just have on board Intel gfx and they seem to work fine with 8...
Updated my laptop with video card problems (Intel i3) but now it's OK Updated for 1 AMD E450 / 4GB RAM / 500GB HDD => ok no worries New E450 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD => ok no worries Old Q9660 / 16 GB RAM / 1TB HDD 1 128 GB SSD and 4 is a disaster, blue screen and reboot => solve But I do not regret my migration, except on my server.
Here is something I thought I'd never do, I've just brought my copy of Windows 8 Pro for £24.99. The reason is I have finally gotten used to the Start Screen using the Release Preview. I just hope everything works after the install, like my games. Update - Tiberian Sun with Firestorm is not working properly so unless someone knows a solution other than program compatibility, I'll be downgrading back to more reliable Windows 7!
Now that I have "Start is Back", and a Theme that really looks good to me," Vista Aero". I'm happy with Win 8. I run dual monitors so on the main one is Start menu, and on the other one I have the Start Screen, Best of both Windows worlds. Gigabyte has been really good with Win 8 drivers no complaints there, and Nvidia drivers do a great job of running all my games on max settings. Some games don't run on Win 8 just yet but they will once compatibility patches are released, "I Hope". All I want is native Glass restored, but I doubt MS will ever go back to that!
