As far as GMOs are concerned, Europeans know as little as americans. But they have different rules over there, that is the reson why there are these huge demonstrations against TTIP. Which, by the way, is also the one the reasons, why most Europeans correctly believe that their culture is superior to what the americans consider culture...

In Europe the rule is, that the industry has to show by large trials, that anything, like f.e. GMOs, is NOT harmful, before they are allowed to use it on the fields.

In the US, the country with the government of the people, by the people and for the people, it is the other way around. Corporations like Monsanto are allowed to sell whatever (Round-Up!) they want. The people can go to court later and there they will have to proof, that something is actually harmful!

To see how that all works. you might watch Erin Brockovich, Julia Roberts movie from 2000....

If you are talking about cross breeding plants and animals, like the "beefalo" you are correct.
It wasn't until the mid 70's that we started modifying plants at the genetic level in laboratories, and not until the late 90's that Monsanto began going full bore with that.
The problem is that the human digestive system has never in it's history consumed a true genetically modified organism, AKA GMO, until then. There are no long term studies to measure the effects of humans consuming GMO's.

Just look at saccharine, the sugar substitute, which was proclaimed safe in the late 70's and all of a sudden became cancerous and banned by the late 80's.

@Katzen: It's easy. There is no National ID Card. They don't get a driver's license. And they don't have medical insurance. They rent a furnished room with 3 or 4 other illegals and they manage to survive here without a problem.

They don't open a bank account; they send their cash home to their country.

And nobody reports anything to anyone, because they undercut the competition, and nobody minds paying half for the same job.

It seems to me that the Europeans demand that a company prove that their product is harmless, as opposed to over here, where you have to prove that the product did you harm.

And that's a damn shame.

And if an illegal does get injured, he/she goes into emergency at the hospital and they are required to service this injured person, meaning after they get discharged, We all pay the bill, except the illegals

We have to force people who come here and work to pay taxes. If you get sick or become disabled, Social Security will pay you "Disability Insurance", so that you can survive and continue to live without starving to death or becoming homeless. If and when you retire, you will receive Social Security benefits, so that you are not forced to sell all of your belongings just to eat and live. Granted, you may be forced to "tighten your belt", and you may have to forfeit some sundries, but you can still survive and thrive.

Ideally, -ANY- person from -ANYWHERE- in the world should be able to come here and live in peace and enjoy the fruits of their labors. They should be able to worship as they see fit without persecution. Both them and their children should be afforded the opportunity to receive an education, so that they can get a decent job and raise their families.

And -EVERY- American should embrace these basic principles. If you don't, then you do not belong here, and are not welcome here.

By entering this country illegally, not only do you automatically place yourself at a disadvantage, you also tax an existing system, making it more difficult for others to receive the benefits of American Citizenship.

It is not fair to others who live here and need those services. And it's a smack in the face to those who have immigrated here legitimately.

A note about Germany. The biggest german chemical corporations is buying up Monsanta right now. Given the large popularity of green politics, on both sides of their sensible and the luntaic fringe misguided sections, a huge part of the people is against that deal. But the united mafia of politics, corporations and media prevents any discussion that a problem of the size and importance the subject deserves.

So the main reason, why so many educated people rather vote for the Trumps of the world is, that they are fed up with this kind of leadership.
In a few years it will have become part of general understanding, that the unblievable lying and hypocrisy of Obama, who was given so much credit when he started out, was the worldwide trigger of that swing towards irrationality. His utterly horrible presidency is a very, very sad omen for the 21st century....
The european election in several countries in 2017 will most probably start a terrible change.

Erin Brockovich is still doing the same work, which is to be praised, however the reality shows us, the at the moment the pendulum strats swinging in the other direction, and it is just beginning to pick up speed.

Not having stopped these developments when it was still possible, will probably have unpleasant consequences further down the road, once the protests have exhausted themselves and Trump can act above the resigned people... wait for it!

PLus, do no forget the parallel developments in Europe, the EU, the Euro and even Nato are showing growing cracks.
I am not saying that is bad. I am saying that after the oncoming government changes we might see some serious crisis without politicians in charge, who are willing to de-escalate...

Make a guess who will be the victims of these changes...
