Does Windows 10 activate with a Windows 7/8.1 product key?

    Hi,

    I've tried to activate a laptop that came with Windows 8, and has its product key integrated, but I can't find a way to activate Windows 10 (10586) with it.

    How do I do that? I'm trying it after installing Windows with a sysprepped image, not in the first steps in the setup.

    [Update] The key is for Windows 8 Core with Bing and the Windows 10 edition is Home.

    The key in the firmware has to be for the same version as the installed version. If you installed Pro and the machine came with Home it will not work.

    If you are installing Home and it came with Home then it should just activate itself as soon as you expose it to the internet.

    Same here, you can't activate entreprise versions, if you dont have an entreprise activated windows 7 or 8, 8.1 ....... tested with version 10586 ....

    Hi, it's a Windows 8.1.1 Core with Bing product key and Windows 10 Home, not Enterprise or Pro :)
